Ok, that's my "learned something new" for today!
Carolyn
Thanks Nick. Yeah I'll do that then.
My theoretical fruit will probably finish inside my grow tent under LEDs, provided I don't get pests or mold issues on it due to the high humidity of the tent. But that is to be seen. I don't recall which forum member did this but he put his potted annona by a window indoors and it seemd to ripen the fruit so that is also an option
Sweet! Those look amazing too. Thanks so much for sharing.
How long did they take to fruit for you from seed?
Hardy tamarillo as well
Any specific cultivars? Have you grown it personally or know how well it handles the cold? Some stuff I’ve read says only hardy to 20-22 degrees, others says 15 degrees F.
No specific cultivars that I’m aware of but yes I’m currently growing one in ground. It’s gets some protection as I cover in a hoophouse in the winter and wrap in frost cloth next to a black garbage can filled with water. All that being said it’s sailed thru low teens and probably single digits on many occasions. Information on the internet says you need two for cross pollination but I got plenty of fruit off a solo plant
Super impressive! How's the flavor in general and compared to the regular Tamarillo?
I found these seeds online. Look similar to the ones you grow?

Well I heard back from them and it seems that they don’t supply a phytosanitary certificate. Seems a bit sketchy/risky.
Starting to get some germination on the seeds I picked up from Ryan earlier last year
Nice!
Ryan really has the good stuff…I’ll have to send him a message
All jokes aside, I think those came from Miguel, which were not cold stratified so that’s probably why they took a few months.
Anyone else who bought seeds from me can chime in?
Esp regarding the biqi ones. I heard some people had them sprouting in a matter of a few weeks.
Best,
Ryan
