Galaxy mango
« on: May 01, 2016, 09:03:57 PM »
Hey everyone,
So my little Galaxy purchased at Bender's 2 years ago needs to be stepped up from its current 10 Gal to either a 15 or needs to be dropped into the ground. But I don't want to commit another Keitt (read: lanky and rather unattractive) to my yard until I've had a chance to really check out the taste and color (thats really the only reason I bought it to begin with).

So, does anyone have a fruiting tree and can someone take some newer  pictures of the fruit as it nears maturity? And who will actually have fruit this year at all? I can swap!
Keith

Mine still has not bloomed.  Have you checked with Mike Bender or Pine Island Nursery?

Bumping this thread.
Haven't had a chance to get over to Benders, but since my Keitt is now ripening, I assume Galaxy mangoes may be coming into color now as well.
Anyone got an image of the ripe fruit? Comments on taste, texture, production?
Thanks,
Keith

6ft tall, 25 gallon pot and not a single bloom on my one specimen. Not overly vigorous despite a consistent fertilization schedule. Anyone holdng fruitlets on this cultivar?

My friend has a tree, over two years in the ground. Healthy and green but not flowers yet.

Annual bump for the elusive galaxy mango pic thread. Lol
So, late seasons should be coloring up in the next few weeks. Anyone have any galaxy's on the way?

I have fruit on my tree.  I Have included some pictures.  So far it is getting a yellow blush and there was one mango on the ground this morning.  Hopefully it will finish ripening on it own.  I got the tree in 2015.

Thanks for the photos. Unusual color so far for a mango that is supposed to turn almost black when ripe?

I agree. Did the remaining fruit ever darken or ripen properly, johnnie?

I finally have a nice, first bloom on my 4.5 year old tree. Optimistic about fruit, but less so about it’s end color now.
