Is my tiny Achacha flowering??
« on: February 15, 2021, 01:29:36 PM »
So i’ve got 7 Achchas planted in different areas throughout my property. Yesterday i noticed that one of my smallest Achachas (about 4ft tall and prob 4 years old) is starting to produce my first flowers! They look like they’re flowers but i wanna be sure by someone who has more experience with em, Thanks!

,William

Hard to tell from the pics, but I don't think so. Looks like new growth.

Post another pic in a day or 2.

Looks like flowers to me, but I don’t have any garcinia so take my advuce with a grain of salt, but it looks more like the flowers judging by the color and shape.
Cheers!

I do not think those are flowers. Flowers start off with a rounded tip and the stems are very thin and delicate. Typically, they originate at the segment nodes. Based on the size of the tree, you have another 3 to 5 years

Thanks everyone for their feedback! One thing im sure of is that those are new “leaf” growth cause ive got many Achachas and i know pretty well how they look.

Hmm... Yeah now I see the points are way more pointy than the rounded tips of flowers.
Cheers!

achacha /achachairu are both the same thing and you call it by either name

Same thing, achacha is by some, a bit easier to say, and sounds well.... like a good marketing name  ;) :D
Cheers!

It’s hard to tell from the pics. If they are flowers, consider yourself lucky. Here is a picture of mine this year. It is holding hundreds of small fruit on it now, and the tree is still letting out more flowers. My tree fruited for the first time last year after 9 years. Good Luck!

My Acachairu is about 5 years old
It never pushes new foliar growth from those areas, it’s always where two leaves meet at the ends of the branches. I would venture to say they could be flowers but let me know what happens!

The picture below shows flower buds on a garcinia. Flower buds look nothing like the original poster's growth.
