I doubled back and found some more but in the unrefrigerated section this time. Last time they were labelled sugar apples. This time they are sign posted as soursop, sitting next to cherimoya, the actual fruit sticker says “sand pear” and they’re from Hebei, China. Looking up the place, it’s entirely plausible given the province has a tempered range as follows “The warmest time of year is generally late July where highs are regularly around 90.7°F (32.6°C) with temperatures rarely dropping below 74.7°F (23.7°C) at night.”
