Do you really? I have friends that praise raccoon meat but never tried myself... How is it?
Those damn things harass my Jack Russell , he doesn't back down but their pack could destroy him.

I season grilled raccoon with about a TBSP. of garlic powder per pound.   We Texans also grow more hair on our chest by adding garlic powder to our morning cup of coffee.  You hairless Asians ought take heed.  :)

That's just unfair ... we get nothing down here, huge Asian population and we're right next to the boarder  :'(

A monster indeed... So much for the double grafted slow growth theory. Though stacking two vigorous varieties may not be the best?

I did not... And still don't... Have the gonads to perform a sure handed single node graft.
But I'm sure it's not that hard... Good luck Thera

Did you notice the cut opposite the original graft? It's done on every grafted plant... Very interesting

No I remember the one Bruce posted.. But this thread goes way back to prehistoric gardenweb... Before TFF was a twinkle in Murahilin & PJ's eyes in their lonely elevator ride together

80
Does anyone remember an older post on gardenweb forum by (Felipe/Philippe?) showing several different types of atemoyas?  One of which was a really big & beautiful golden yellow atemoya that sort of looks like a massive sugar apple?

81
Wow that looks way closer to squamosa than cherimola

83
Even if possible, Wouldn't you try to grow cherimoya for its superior taste rather than crossing it down?

Can pond apple be crossed with cherimoya or squamosa?

Haha at least your season is fast approaching.

I was hoping to see a few more pictures on this thread...

Mostly dust. It's 'incinerator' season here. Have just a modest haul of mulberry and early nectarines ready now.

This is one of the two surviving LZ trees I grafted earlier this year while on vacation.  It only flushed ONCE being in a 1-gal nursery grow bag for 8+ months under their care.  Finally planted out a little less than 2 months ago, it's since flushed THREE times.  The vigor of this variety is unbelievable.  Just in case if anyone's curious, it's double grafted:

Lemon Zest side veneered on Xoài Tứ Quý (Choc Anon) on Unknown rootstock

Here's the original Choc Anon graft

You should ask Harry how many years his tree bore fruit  :'(

That's where you're wrong...Tim is just a profile name, my real name is Mit

Judging by the number of posts and people having input anonymity is out the window.

that's why we are using are profile names...duh.

Just don't try to figure out who Luc, Tim, and Tomas are.

I'd try to get both on but they eat green mangoes... Hence my hesitation

Tim, graft both for her.  I use my Manilla mango tree for grafting experiments.  So far, an Edwards Seedling from Eunice's tree has taken and also a green Thai mango from another forum member.  I also have Maha Chanok, NDM that have not quite taken yet and I will continue to add grafts onto it.  When a graft fails, I simply cut that branch and new branches replace it which gives me more branches for grafting next season.  I have not tasted the fruit from my manilla yet but I'm going to assume its horrible.

I'm not sure if that's appreciate lol
But thank you for the offer... I'm undecided whether to graft NDM or Lemon Zest for her

Tim, I'd be happy to spare a scion of my Manila - I would bet money it is NOT the best Manila seedling out there, but it is better than any of the fruit I bought this year at Vons, Ralphs, Costco and Walmart.  I will videotape me eating my only remaining fruit so you can see the reaction on my face and decide if you want the scion then ;)

I don't think you ever lived here at all ???

#1 is Durian. Just ate an exquisite durian and it knocked all the other fruits off the list. HAHA At least temporarily.
California peaches, nectarines, plums, and apricots are awesome. Only problem is California has very short time these are available. For this reason when i lived there i always yearned for summer time. But what do you do there the REST of the year?  :o  Not a big fan of canned peaches.  :o :o And fruits shipped in from Chile just don't cut it.

Here are the massive La Verne manila seedling fruits from my sister's tree, I would gladly accept if it taste remotely as good as store bought manilas.  Took a bit of convincing for her to not yank the darn thing, I'll top work it for her next year.

97
You're going to start a CA vs GA peach battle ;D

Its not 100% of the time, but I have gotten excellent peaches and nectarines at Costco before.  I much prefer the California fruits to the eastern peaches they often sell.  There have been times when the fruits did not ripen properly.  However, there have been times when the fruit were so good that I overlook the times when they have not been good.

For what it's worth, I think you're throwing us for a loop... You've shared 3 or 4 pictures of this so called Dream fruits but each time it looks nothing like the last. I also don't see consistency in foliage... What's the story here? Area 51-ish or you have it hidden somewhere?

I wish they'd stop this practice of selling seedling plants as named cultivar, false advertisement & bad practice.

With that said, you've got a Manila seedling with undesirable trait(s). Best to pull it out and replace with a known variety you like.  Or learn to graft and top work your established tree with good root system... Personally I'd go with the latter ;D
