Mike,

Did you enjoy AP? I thought it was pretty good for an atemoya.

Fantastic report.  I've long had an El Bumpo and a Pierce in my sights, I may need to add a Behl to the list.  Finding someone that will ship these things is difficult at least.

Behl cherimoya is amazing in size and has good flesh to seed ratio. Taste was pretty good as well. I was told that it was not at optimal flavor at the time, due to weather and early picking.

A Florida tester said it was as good as Pakchong and I believe it because I haven't tasted a better one here or Florida. I'll graft Phet this spring

Sounds like a grand time was had by all!  Sorry I couldn't make it as I was
preparing for my Israel trip this last weekend!  Thanks for the invite JF - though
you know Cherimoyas are a new taste for me ( :o), I'm going to make every effort
to attend my first NON-mango tasting next year, and see what all the fuss is about!

Great post Ethan and nice pics Marklee -  hope to meet all you California folks i haven't met
before, sooner or later!

Good ole Lisa.....bringing up the rear once again.  Thanks for the report.  One of our esteemed moderator/admins is going to file a report from a Florida tasting of fruits from California....one day....maybe even soon. I am waiting patiently, well maybe not so patiently for him to get to it so I can add my remarks and comments.

JF,

Lisa I tried from your tree last year, was much better then what was offered this year at the tasting. Did you supply the Lisa atemoya for the tasting?

Went to Ashok's rancho a few days ago to drink tea and talk about next years tasting. I took some pics of his orchard. His mature mango trees are beginning to bloom nicely.

Thanks for the pics JF, do you know the varieties Ashok has planted out and about how long he's had them in the ground?

Simon

Ashok has two mature trees that are over 20 years old....Alfonso and Manila. He has added 13 mango trees this fall and he has room for another 10 more. Some of the varieties he has added are Maha Chanok,LZ, Sweet Tard, PPK, Kent, Bombay, Haden, Glenn, Malika, Edward and others I can't remember. He has A few Chikos, Lychees, Avocados, Jacoticaba, 8 cherimoyas and may other fruit trees.

1.Booth
2.Madhur
3.Helmut

Booth is the best chirimoya I've had this season. Helmut had an interesting flavor it tasted like Materva Yerba Mate.

Interesting. Ma'alina has become very popular lately.

Wow JF, out of all the varieties, Booth is number one so far? I looked back at the old GW posts and Booth was one of the varieties that consistently had good acidity. It is a great variety with good shape and excellent sugar acid balance. It has the added benefit that some people report it as one of the varieties that will set fruit without hand pollination. Because of this, I use Booth as my uppermost graft so that the branches may possibly set fruit on the higher up branches where I would not be able to reach for hand pollination.
