I doubt that would be possIble as they are not super closely related, jambu does fruit fast though

Thanks, but pear and loquat are grafted on quince rootstock, although these two plants are not super closely related to quince, and all three are only from the same plant family.

Quince and pear are both unusual in that regard, graft compatibility beyond the same genus is pretty rare in plants. Pear is also compatible with rowan and in some rare cases can be compatible with some apples.

Myrtaceae in particular seems to often have incompatibility even within the same genus. Some Psidium species aren't even compatible with other Psidium species, same for many Eugenia species being incompatible within their genus. I've never heard of any Myrtaceae species being compatible with any species in a different genus.

Wide compatibility tends to be much more common among species that graft readily. Myrtaceae does mot graft readily. One of the reasons suggested for low compatibility in myrtaceae is a high level of phenolic compounds that inhibit calus formation.

Thanks, how is grafting between species in different genus in Sapotaceae family?(for example pouteria & manilkara)
It is reported that chicoo is grafted on starapple (Chrysophyllum cainito) rootstock and several other species!

Wax jambu is very difficult to graft to the same species let alone totally different. You are better off airlayering or root cutting if you don't have compatible RS.

Wax jambu is also related to rose apple and it doesn't even do well even though the graft took.

Jambu and guava wouldn't be compatible, however I believe you can graft some Eugenia and Syzygium together.

Just adding in some experience that despite trying multiple times, my experiments with cross eugenia species grafting have all failed. This is not for lack of not knowing to graft well, I do a few hundred grafts a year.

Psidium, however, has proven very fruitful for me in cross species grafting and I have a few multi species cocktails going on very well right now.

If you are in zone 10a or above, jambu should grow fine for you.
