I thought I would collect the bloom time for cultivars of Actinidia chinensis in one place, since it's hard to find such data online. This data is important for growers who need to select the right male for their chosen female. If people have personal experience, please PM any data and I'll update it to this post. The standard for calibration is HAYWARD.

Belen (male): 1 month and 1 week earlier
Soreli: 1 month earlier
Zespri Gold / Hort16a: 4 weeks earlier
Adonis (male): 3 weeks earlier
Oriental Red / Donghong: 15 days earlier
Jinyan (eriantha hybrid): 10 days earlier
Jintao: 1 week earlier
Tsecheledis: 1 week earlier
Chieftain (male): 1 week earlier but long lasting
P1 (male): 1 week earlier but long lasting
HAYWARD
Plus Jingold / Z5Z6: =
Earligreen: =
Boerica: =
Autari (male): =
M56 (male): =

Located in Croatia. Sending to most countries in Europe.
13€ plus postage.
The cultivar "Velikanski" produces large fruits, 5-7cm. A male is required for fruit-set.
Nurseries sometimes sell this as Actinidia kolomikta, but this is incorrect. It's definitely Actinidia arguta.
Three years old, grown bigger since photo below:

Please PM me if you have access to any of these four cultivars (from two species).

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Appeal to those with a fruiting kwaimuk tree

I think it is about time wikipedia had a photo for its article on Artocarpus parvus. Tree or fruit or both. It doesn't have to be professional but has to be original work.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Propagating banana from an unripe fruit
« on: February 09, 2023, 01:04:12 PM »
I almost thought this was for sure fake. But it seems genuine. Who knows what else could be propagated this way... possibly an unripe fig too.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Let's Go Bondon!
« on: November 16, 2021, 06:53:03 AM »
Trying to get this slow-growing Artocarpus going. Commonly known as Bondon, it is an exception in the genus since it forms a small and low tree. Some say the fruit has a flavor better than jakfruit. Time will tell, but if you are outside of the tropics forget about fruiting this Bornean nugget.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Helper wanted in Russian Federation
« on: March 23, 2021, 11:55:10 AM »
Hello folks,
I am seeking help from someone in Russia to buy some plants for me and hold them until I am able to come and pick them up or organize other transport. This has to be done now because the vendor only sends out plants in early Spring. The helper will be paid for their service.

You will also have to write in Russian to the shop, as it is email order. The order will be for 4 small plants, and possibly some seeds.

If you are serious about this, please message (PM) me now.

Regards

Probably one of the more popular restorations in recent taxonomy...

As for Acca (Dacca) it's TNT - Dynamite for its most famous member, but not quite Highway to Hell just yet since there is still Acca macrostema & lanuginosa.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Wanted: Dwarf #8 Loquat seeds
« on: September 29, 2020, 10:32:43 AM »
As some of you may know, the mother tree of Dwarf #8 loquat unfortunately perished in the recent hurricane. So I am reaching out to loquat collectors who purchased budwood of this and could supply me with 10-20 seeds in the future. Or if someone still has seeds from this year, they might be viable as loquat seeds are said to be good for at least six months.
