Found this interesting article (Health magazine) about Guavas... Who knew?

"Fruits typically aren’t a good source of protein. However, guava is an exception. Guava is a tropical fruit that provides 4.21 g of protein per cup, making it one of the highest protein fruits you can eat.
This sweet and tangy high-protein fruit is exceptionally high in vitamin C, with one cup packing 376 mg, or over 400% of your daily needs for this nutrient. Vitamin C functions as a powerful antioxidant in the body, protecting cells against oxidative damage. It’s also required for the synthesis of the mood-regulating neurotransmitter dopamine and the production of collagen, the most abundant protein in the body."

Plus Topaz fruit has a very unique appearance... Chartreuse exterior when ripe...with a melting, Juicy, Golden pulp/interior.
And not bright yellow like the standard Pitangatubas.
Is Topaz a hybrid? Maybe. A mutant? Possibly!

I was watering plants in my greenhouse this morning and I found this fruit resting in the pot of one of my Pitomba seedlings:





They had started sporadically blooming recently and this is the first fruit that set.
It had ripened and become dislodged on its own accord.
Tastes like a Pitangatuba/Pitomba Cross... with flavors of both.
Juicy like the Pitangatuba... but much sweeter with Pitomba flavor overtones.
Anyone seen this before?

It had 2 seeds which I planted.
