Can you describe this variety? Is it a soft chewing type? Does it rot easily

Marta has Skinner for sale now.
Since I picked more Sylvia fruits while I was checking out my air layers on the tree, I will post some fruit photos again. These fruits are really good, my favorite.Merry Christmas indeed! Here's to many prosperous years with your favorites!
I did manage to buy another guava tree which seems to be similar Carmine type variety. I almost taste like the Sylvia guava but more crunchy/harder flesh when ripe. Just dug up the tree today so now I have my #1 & #2 best tasting guava trees. The person who had this guava also had another of the same variety (don't know the name of it) but the fruits are identical to the ones on the tree I dug up. Since these guava trees already has the #2 best tasting, I won't be grafting anything on them. What a Christmas present for myself!
Did anyone who grafted the Sylvia guava get it to take successfully?I got close. I had one that did grow together, but lost all grafts including that one during the summer. I probably don't water enough during the worst of the heat.
Okay, you sold me. That would fit in very well with my garden too. You have a cutting or seeds to spare? 😉Uncaria bark is an excellent immune booster that I've used in humans, birds, and dogs with great results. I'm talking to a lady about getting parvo puppies on purpose in future and giving it to them to see if they have a better survival rate. Based on a sample set of one it helps.
The aculeata looks worth growing too. What's your experience with using and the taste of the different parts of the plant?
The leaves are crisp and have a very mild spinach taste. They're almost tasteless tbh, which is a good thing. They're great in a salad and good source of protein. The fruits are like a washed out loquat. Very juicy with a mild sour/sweet taste and 3-5 small black seeds. The flowers are really beautiful and bring tons of bees. I couldn't recommend a better plant if you're looking to attract pollinators. I have an old video with my plant buzzing with 100's of bees
Sure, I can send you some cuttings. I will DM you

The seedlings did not like being outside, died when I went to Italy and Hawaii for vacation.Looking forward to your photos. That one is definitely a classic for a reason. I'm glad it ranks high on your list.
I did get a large RubyxSupreme fruit from a friend who has a large/tall tree today. It smells very fragrant, flesh is very red and looks good. Taste wise, it was definitely better than the Red Malaysian guava, but not better than the Carmine/Sylvia or the Indonesian Seedless guava. To me the taste of RubyxSupreme was milder than the two I mentioned but it is still very good so I will try to graft it to my tree next year. I measured the brix and it was 12. I'll post a few photos of the fruit later.
Now that I look at what you're talking about, I don't have that. I have a fruit which was sold to me as "cat's claw" and has sharp spines along a vine, and grows an orange fruit with small thorns coming out of it that rub off. It is tasty, but I have neglected the vine a lot and haven't looked for it in awhile.
Lol as soon as you described the fruit I knew which "cat's claw" you were talking about. Did you purchase yours from
"The Plant Guy" in City Terrace? He was on all the sites selling p.aculeata as cat's claw. I actually think p.aculeata is
more useful than u.tormentosa, due to it's edible leaves and fruit, but I guess it depends on what you want to use it for
Hopefully in the spring there will be more listings including ones that look more promising. I'm patient. I'll find it eventuallyHey Rispa, I haven't had a chance to look for the plants, but etsy jas a listing. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1417477838/devils-claw-cats-claw-seeds?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_-home_and_living-domestic_low&utm_custom1=_k_be0e2a23c3bf19663a534d18f45c8e28_k_&utm_content=bing_412373112_1309518646655325_81844979140035_pla-4585444530274366:aud-805670572:pla-4585444530274366_t__1417477838&utm_custom2=412373112&msclkid=be0e2a23c3bf19663a534d18f45c8e28
Hope this helps. D
FWIW I tried these and they weren't viable. There are some people that regularly list plants on Ebay such as https://www.ebay.com/itm/266317320858, but the IDs don't look quite right to me - they're always missing the trademark hooks.
I believe the land =Pokeweed has is south of Houston and doesn't get hit by the same cold weather as Houston, so I think it's a possibility. We'll just have to wait and see.Hey Rispa, This grows naturally around our land down South. I'll watch for it. D
Are you sure you're not confusing it with https://www.npsot.org/posts/invasive-plant/dolichandra-unguis-cati/?
I don't think it would survive winters in Texas; it's native to the Amazon rainforest.
FYI, I see that some Asian markets are now selling the Vanilla Persimmons (H-Mart) so if you want to try the fruits go buy it.Ooh! I wonder if the hmart in Houston carry them too
It really is seedless, non-astringent and taste is excellent. The flesh seems to be not as hard like a Fuyu.

It roots from cutting easily. I know I have one in the yard, but need to see if it is big enough to clip from.Any luck in your yard?
