Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Best Mango of 2025

We'll see what changes in 2026. I believe the Sul-po-mag has helped bringing out the flavor. I've also feel that the use of prilled sulfur over time has made the calcium in our limestone more available to all the fruit trees.

Rosigold looking good. Sprayed everything blooming with Cease fungicide and Milstop combination. I love our My4Sons sprayer with internal recirculating bilge pump. I rinse it thoroughly after each use. Going on my second year of use.

Coffee at sunrise - checking out leaf flush on Zill 40-26.  ❤️

This is a beautiful bushy dwarf tree. Amazing growth for a little over a year. Do you happen to have updated photos of it from different angles? I'd love to see how it has changed through summer and fall.
She got racked by anthracnose and isn't looking pretty.  Recovery is underway, I'll post photos when she's more presentable. Trunk is slowly thickening.

No shame in that, it happens ro the best of us. Let's see her!

Trunk diameter 1 & 3/16 measured 12 inches above soil

This surprised me this morning. Panicle buds on north side of the tree. We just finished picking fruit in later September. I getting a weird season vibe. Did the drought do something to the tree. Never seen bloom this early on Keitt. We've been coexisting 30 years.

Roy - you got me motivated. Put down 70 lbs of Sul-po-mag all over our .26 acre lot.
Tomorrow spraying sulfur with the My4Sons sprayer with agitator. All the trees are much happier compared to last December.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Help: transplanted M4 in trouble

Sucks to see such a nice tree struggling. I would scratch the bark off in small spots here and there, starting near the tips of the higher up branches, to see if there is any green in the cambium. If there is green, chance for it to survive. If it's all dead, cut the dead off as recommended. Not sure it matters, might be a good idea to strip the dead leaves. They will probably fall soon anyway.

Stressing it more is a bad idea, but if it were healthy, I would replant it as CC stated, with the base at least 6 inches above ground level, a foot even is nice. They usually settle with time and the mound won't be as tall, just like one planted at ground level can sink lower as well.
M-4 you poor thing. Planning placement...

Just finished watching this. Fortunately (or unfortunately) we are out of space.
Not sure about the hype. Anyone here willing to take the plunge? A true off season productive mango is interesting.

You also have non-rich bidders who are willing to overpay. You might be surprised. I have seen people who couldn't pay their rent keeping amazing reef tanks that cost them many thousands of dollars.

Most varieties go down in price quickly. Just follow the auctions from week to week, and you will see. The "whales" scoop up the first few rounds, then the sharks and tuna move in, lol.
Eventually the catfish (me) get fed. LOL 😆 😂 🤣

Just noticed this bloom on my Not Doc Mai. Have not been able to identify it. I bought it as a grafted NDM years ago. We think it might be a  Rosigold.

Those leaves look very similar to our Nam Doc Mai #4. The reddish line on the leaf midrib caught my eye. The color diminishing with time.

Prilled sulfur seems to help my Julie. Keyplex is keeping her healthy too. My Carambola is growing 16 feet distance from the Julie. It also seems to appreciate the Keyplex 350.

It looks like Julie has some panicle buds swelling.

Looks like we got swollen panicle buds on our Rosigold. Could we be experiencing our first Spring mango in 2026?

They are both great mangoes. Pickering has more broad appeal and disease resistance, so perhaps a better pic all around. DH is really good tho; I say grow both.
We have both. Only eaten the Pickering. 2026 we let the Dwarf Hawaiian hold fruit.
I like Julie so Dwarf Hawaiian should be a good selection for our garden.

I’m not usually a fan of the Florida-type avocados but I do enjoy Marcus Pumpkin. I wouldn’t call it oily but definitely creamy with a nice sweet flavor.

I had the same experience with my first tasting of Marcus Pumpkin.  It fooled my expectations.
Contempt prior to investigation.
I wouldn't plant a tree with my limited space. But, I also wouldn't turn down the fruit if it is offered.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: ApMay Avocado 🥑 @ Lara Farms
« on: November 12, 2025, 05:20:08 PM »
We gave the Apmay 5 days to settle down after the trauma of being shipped. We removed the top layer of potting soil down to the top of the seed of the rootstock. It appeared that the rootstock had a significant root system,  so we stepped it up to a three gallon container. Wood chips, mature homemade compost and 40% coarse sand was our potting mixture. ¼ cup organic citrus fertilizer was added just below the top of the soil mix. Getting bathed in filtered light during the hottest part of the day.

Apmay updatd: Put it in a seven gallon this morning.  It's been growing under a Carambola.
Going to expose it to heavier sun exposer for the Fall /  Winter season.

I'm not Sleepy Lizard  🦎.

I'm believing some bloom will result from this week's event in our garden.  Time will tell.

That would be called Bowen in Oz.

Can't lie, I'm excited. Temperatures forecasted in high 50's after a warm weekend.
Will it be enough to spur Rosa, Dwarf Hawaiian and Rosigold to bud out some panicles?
What do you think?

Sauntering about the garden this morning (with coffee mug in hand) we found this fruit lying beneath the tree. Never had a November Jackfruit before. This year I did start spraying the tree with micronutrients. Not saying it made a difference but, it's the only imput from me that changed.

12 lbs 4.2 ounce is respectable.
