They are so pretty! I wonder if grafting might be easier in winter if the plant is kept warm. I didn't have luck with Sylvia, but other grafts I tried took and were growing, but died and molded in the dead of summer.

I ate one fruit, and it was good. It does seem to have more taste than the Indonesian Seedless guava. But it is nice to have a fruit that has no seeds and tastes good. I will let a few of the other fruits sit for a week and see if the taste changes. This one is definitely one to keep. I would like to compare the fruit taste with Barbie Pink and RubyxSupreme to see if these other two pink flesh guavas will be as good. I think I have enough varieties so I can stop adding more varieties in my collection.

Once I find 2-3 best tasting (for me), I plan to graft them all on my newly aquired large guava rootstock trees next year. Check out the big ones I dug up this year.

So far my favorite is ruby supreme, though I enjoy every guava I've tasted. It being like ruby supreme is definitely makes it high on the list. How are your seeds doing?

The seedlings did not like being outside, died when I went to Italy and Hawaii for vacation.

I did get a large RubyxSupreme fruit from a friend who has a large/tall tree today. It smells very fragrant, flesh is very red and looks good. Taste wise, it was definitely better than the Red Malaysian guava, but not better than the Carmine/Sylvia or the Indonesian Seedless guava. To me the taste of RubyxSupreme was milder than the two I mentioned but it is still very good so I will try to graft it to my tree next year. I measured the brix and it was 12. I'll post a few photos of the fruit later.

Looking forward to your photos. That one is definitely a classic for a reason. I'm glad it ranks high on your list.

Rispa, when I first ate a very small RubyxSupreme from the same tree earlier this year, it just looked like a miniature version of this fruit. It has a very nice fragrance and the inside flesh was dark pink/red.

Here's some photos of the Sylvia guava next to the RubyXsupreme for size comparison. The Sylvia guava gets larger, this was the only fruits on the tree that looked ready to pick.

After comparing the taste, the RubyXsupreme is a softer flesh guava than the Sylvia. The Sylvia guava is more firm (almost crunchy) and is sweeter.

The Sylvia fruit (largest) I picked in March was much larger, and it had the highest brix reading of 21.

My mom has had a ruby Supreme in her yard for years, but she hasn't protected fully, so it dies back to the root every year since the big freeze 4 years ago. I haven't had one since. Really have to get my hands on the Sylvia and make it happen. Looks absolutely fantastic! And sounds even better! I love a good crunch from a guava.
