Is tamarind flood tolerant?

Is Tamarindus indica flood tolerant? I'm out of space in my yard that doesn't hold water during the rainy season. Thanks!

In my experience, no, not at all.
Of course, I grow my trees in my greenhouse, but I killed a couple by watering as I would my other tropicals. The current tree is 12 years old, and does great with a small amount of water once a month.
But considering where they normally grow, and their drought tolerance, I would not put it in an area prone to flooding.

If I had to guess, similar to mango not avocado in terms of flooding. I lost many avocado trees due to flooding from Irma, my tamarind tree took it like a champ and did not blow over from wind like the large mango trees did.

My small tamarind trees did not take a beating during the last cyclone when we got about a 1m of rain in a week. They where in water saturated soil for 2 weeks.

How long is the area your talking saturated with water or totally flooded??

As Daintree says, they are drought tollerant so a wet spot for them wouldn’t be the wisest.
Why not throw some garcinias in the flood area. I have heard gacinias have developed “root hair” free roots in order to survive better in inundated areas.
Garcinia warenii can take all year flooding, it grows in the swamp here. And mangostana can take really wet soil for a long time.

Thanks for the replies! Artocarpus's situation sounds closest to what a tamarind tree in my yard may experience. I may give it a go, may start seeds. Beautiful tree.

I've had tamirand take standing water for multiple weeks.
