Hi,

I have an Asunta 2 and tried pollinating it with American Beauty pollen but it failed.  Have you (or anyone else on this forum) had success pollinating this cultivar and if so which pollen did you use?  Many thanks!

Nothing is 100%. Today I used Maria Rosa and PG pollen mixed on AB, PG and MR for my 2nd bloom this summer. 1st bloom more than half of the flowers aborted. Keep trying.

I have Asunta 3, and have tried to use epiphyllum and palora pollen. Its failed this year and last year as well. I may end up chopping up Asunta 3 and replace with a better self fertile one.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

For my Asunta 3, it flowered first year but no fruits. The second year I pollenated with Palora seedling plant and all the Asunta 3 flowers had fruits. The Asunta 3 fruits did not have much sweetness, even though the flower is big and pretty, the Palora tasted better.

I’m truly puzzled by my Asunta 2; it seemingly pollinated itself or some ant or other insect pollinated it with some other dragonfruit pollen that is not on my property.  Could it be possible that the Asunta 2 is self-fertile?  I did not do anything to it at all and a fruit has been set, and I have no idea what to make of this.

Had this happen with Physical Graffiti. Zero chance other dragon fruit pollen came from anywhere.
