I probably did around 300 successful grafts with olfa box cutter blades, and nearly 1000 with a regular old double bevel Opinel knife. I do like the new single bevel Felco knives I've been using the last year or so though.

In my opinion it doesn't matter much if at all for cleft.

I had a few of these going at one point till rats ate them. Guess they did me a favor!

Looks like all the ones I have around me at the ranch. They kinda yellow some during winter.

These have been a challenge for me, have lost a couple, but my current pair are looking quite nice in tall pots.

Some of the scions I grafted about 1.5 weeks ago are already pushing! Hoping they all take so I can try the different varieties. Thanks again for the scions!

The timing was immaculate. All my donor trees are flowering big time now and about to push vegetatively. Glad they are looking like success there!

Too much water, or too little water. I just transplanted one of my multi graft loquats and it looks a bit like this too. In my case, it could also be gopher tunnels underneath the plant draining the water quickly.

Normal imo, too busy though. I would prune some of those inward facing branches. I always regret it when I don't and then the branches are running into each other.

Should be fine, that's enough of a collar.

15
the everbearing mulberry from Logees... tiny fruit that are a bit insipid, got rid of it
and my no-name pawpaws, while not cultivars, I thought the fruit was overhyped and doesn't compare to a cherimoya or sugar apple. hope new grafts of named varieties will be better

Oooh, good one! You reminded me of one I absolutely hated! "WORLD'S BEST MULBERRY" which is the same as the everbearing or thai dwarf imo, and to me was only one thing: World's Best Rootstock.

Himalayan honeysuckle. The guy who gave me the plant said it was super tasty. I mean. Kind of. But not really.

A now every day activity... Digging up the yard to find gopher tunnels and setting traps. Caught 3 today.

BIG grafting day today. Annona from Bush2Beach, and Gozp. Ft.dorking scions to be grafted later.

Cherilata grafts

I went crazy out there today.

The owner of this property got me here at just the right time. I could not ask for a better size to graft.

Another Annona chimera.

Awash in fruit here.

Big sabara is SO happy here. It is already getting ready to bust out with flower.

Orange CORG should really do amazing this year.

Multi graft CORG needs a bigger pot... Dunno what to do about this one. If I get more security here, I may plant it in ground.

Fig forest is looking ok so far.

Yup, definitely agree with you on that. It dissipates as the fruit gets really ripe, but it is hard to wait that long. I find that if you wait long enough that the fruit is kind of drying out, that's when it's best.

Amazon says the item can’t be shipped to Florida. What gives?

I thought that was just a CA thing. We often can't buy certain products or have them shipped her due to Prop 65 Cancer warning requirements. Bummer for you.

It seems to be a lot of work for the poster, and for not much gain. Always appreciated it when they came up for sale  though.

Quite a bit more expensive than the sales on here, especially paying shipping, but it's available elsewhere too:

I have some CORG scion I can sell this year, including a few new ones.

$5 per scion, minimum order of 5 (can mix types)

Orange CORG - haven't had success with grafting this to CORG, but must be possible, flavor is awesome, super sweet no funk
San Marcos - I top worked this tree not knowing how good it was, but it may just be the best type I have, papaya flavor comes through
Nelita - seedling from Miguel.pt seeds, but looks identical to his - limited
Genealogical - (I got this tree from San Marcos Growers, it produces a medium sized somewhat spicy fruit which is unique)
Garnet - from Kevin Jones, good fruit with that papaya flavor, just has a bit of a ham undertone sometimes, has red growth which is a recessive trait
ScottR - From ScottR on the forum, a really nicely balanced fruit that is sweet and a touch sour, a great example closer to standard cherry

I sold my El Dorado tree to another guy in town, so no scions off that one this year, did get a graft of it on my cocktail tree tho.

I’ve heard Grimal doesn’t have a high rate of takes on Sabara. If anyone has had success please share it. I’ve grown out some Grimal seedlings to graft my mature Grimal onto them because of this. I don’t think I’ve even seen Adam sell a grafted Grimal but I could be wrong.

I have tons of grimal on Sabara, works just fine. It is kind of funny though cause the Grimal grows faster than Sabara below it and you'll get a way fatter scion on top of a small union and rootstock branch. Let me see if I can find a photo of my graft union from 2021.

I would be careful with watering during our winters in SoCA, coastal or inland.  We just don’t get the heat that FL so growth really slows and root rot is a real possibility depending on your soil.
I think your tree will look a lot better as soon as the weather warms and your new growth comes in.   Also, your tree looks to be a pretty large pot so the chance for root rot increases if you have a high % organic soil.

+1 on all this. I barely water my jabos in winter.
