Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Best tasting Plinia?
« on: March 23, 2023, 07:32:52 PM »

Plinia sp. Honey Drop (forgot the brazilian translation for it). This is the one that there's this huge plantation of them devoted to making jabo wine.  Not sabara, but this Honey Drop.  I have a couple but not fruited, but if someone dropped the $$$$$ for a farm to do wine with one variety, I'd pay attention.

you must be talking about "fazenda jabuticabal" the one you say is "pingo de mel" and they started to plant the first trees in 1947 and the winery started in 1999

Very cool. I've heard that if it starts to produce non-variegated growth you should try to prune it off. I hope it continues to grow like that for you. Very cool.

thanks, yes, i've already taken out some leafs that didn't come out with the pattern, i'm going to update the thread from time to time

Nice, some time ago I made a post in the jaboticaholics thread with the first flower of mine that is very similar in size to yours and now 8 months later it has a lot of fruits and flowers, I think that a lot of rainwater helps it bloom, I put the pot on another one that contains water and I leave it drinking for a couple of hours at least once a week.

Hello, i liked the forum and decided to make an account to see if someone can identify the variety.
The photos were taken at the home of family friends in october in Uruguay.
