Cannot find it when doing a bing or google search. When I did this search a few months ago we (this forum) did show up on a search.  Guess what shows up first on a bing search>>>

I think the admins simply didn't want to deal with trying to fix the redirect error (where anything with a referrer url header of google.com goes to that "breastplateEnchantress" page) and removed the site from the google index.

However, I don't think that was a great idea. We're going to lose a lot of activity, since most new members would find the forum via google. It also belies the original goal of the forum, which was to disseminate information.

The forum is not listed on bing either? I thought it was just google. Hmm, that's a great way to kill the forum -- hide it. It would be ironic if gardenweb / houzz were to reclaim its previous position as top fruit forum on the web (as it was before this forum came online and took most of the members).

Does not show up really on any of the major search engines.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

There also used to be a google search button inside the search feature which was removed. Too bad because that was extremely useful, especially for searching posted images.

Well this all happened because I was in the library and wanted to look at this forum.  Looking for tropical fruit forum via bing and google gave me no results for this forum.

I use Bing at home and it is 90% as good as google. Bing works well with the Firefox/Chrome extension "trackmenot".  But if you use google with "trackmenot" ....google keeps making me verify myself three times a day. The heck with that!! So I use bing and for a difficult search I use google maybe once a day or once every two days. Plus I don't like the google org and prefer to deal with Microsoft.

I did a site specific search via google advance search and I got useless results. But doing this two years ago I got good results. A search like this>>
pina colada site:http://tropicalfruitforum.com gives you babble today

I use Google chrome on my tablet and it's fine. I use internet explorer on my desktop and this website is not there. Now I'm confused.

What's going on here? Maybe there are legal issues we don't know??That is sad that we are given all the traffic to GW, a website we ran from because of all their advertisement.

For me it Works as well; and it shows in first in results list.
Maybe it's just inside USA that this is happening.

Dimpleslee, Grapebush - yes, tff does show up first in the results list of google search but if you actually click on it, it gives you an error or NOT FOUND.

The bigger issue is that people who would benefit most from the information contained within the forum will not be searching on the forum's name. They will be searching on a particular species / cultivar / issue.

All I do to get around the enchantress breastplate thing is add www. to the beginning of the web address.  The forum did work better before when there was the better search features.

Grapebush - I've clicked refresh before and it has always given me the same error. I tried it again today after reading your comment and it works. Strange!

Anyone interested in taking the time to figure out how to fix this issue? We did not remove it from any search engine. There is an error somewhere that caused the issue.

I have been really busy these past few months and I haven't had the time to fix this issue, let alone visit the forum very often. So if anyone is knowledgable in this area and would be willing to try and solve this problem for us it would be greatly appreciated.

aha. So goog might just have started yanking the results because they give 404 errors. I'll help fixing :-).

OK. This is working again. It's going to take some time before goog and bing index the site again, but there are still some older posts. Try this: https://www.google.com/#q=site:tropicalfruitforum.com+lemon+zest

I notice the 404 issue too, if for example, I go to another site, and then go "back" to the tf forum, at times it says 404, so I then type in the site into the site bar, then it loads up.

Maybe they are connected to the other issues somehow?

Thanks to Cookie Monster, the forum should be working again! Patrick and I really appreciate the time he took to figure out the problem and fix it because we were unable to when we tried.

I added back the Google Search feature. If there are any other features missing that you may be interested in, please let me know.
