grafting Guava
« on: May 20, 2021, 07:56:29 PM »
Hi
we have 3 different type guavas.  i have been trying to graft all on to just one tree.  what is the most successful type of graft.  no luck so far.  prefer not to chop the tree down to 3ft tall and let new growth to graft to start up
the host tree is 10ft tall.
thanks

If your guava plants are in pots you can try approach graft.

Approach is strongly recommended, the cambium is super thin on guavas.

Use veneer with nurse leaf.
Shade the nurse leaf.
Should be ready after 6 weeks.
Cut the branch 1” above graft when new leaves get big.
Clean up the graft union when new growth a foot or 2.

I cut off the 2 branches because it was easier to put the ziplock bag on.
