WTB Mombin cuttings.
« on: June 18, 2021, 12:28:29 PM »
I was recently introduced to this awesome fruit from a local fruit vendor and I'm keen to grow it here. I've read that it's supposed to be pretty easy to grow from rooted cuttings.

Anyone have any available? The amarillio variety is the one I've tried, but if the others are similar (or better) then I'm keen to get those a whirl too.

Jobillo is very common in Puerto Rico. Is invasive and I hate it. Fruit fly damage the fruits

Definitely not invasive in Las Vegas where I'll be attempting to grow it. ;)

I've read that seeds don't always grow true to type. Is that true?

Good to know. Thanks!

Nonetheless, I'm still on the lookout for cuttings for different varities and (hopefully) faster fruiting.

Are you going to grow this in a greenhouse? I killed 2 of these and one even had a large trunk. More sensitive than juneplum, annonas, ect. Maybe just as much or slightly less than soursop?

Care/planting plan is the same as other tropicals I've grown. Starting them indoors on my grow rack. Once established, they'll go in my "tropical hardening" corner which has increased humidity and mostly shade, then give them full sun in the fall.

When winter comes along, I'll either protect them if we have yet another mild winter, or bring them back indoors when temps get near or at freezing.
