Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: NDM vs Maha chanok

Maha is wayyy better in flavor and I haven't noticed any fruit splitting. NDM could be a tad sweeter.

I bought 5 seeds. Two are already over 9" long with multiple levels and leaves (so much for slow growing). The others.....crickets- but I'm not complaining :D .

Sounds like transplant shock- especially if their roots were established in the mound, then disturbed to be planted in the ground. Being inground, full sun would exasperate the shock. I'd prune and shade and keep soil moist till new growth mature and harden.

My 1st tree is flowering like crazy. Anyone else's? Hopefully I'll get fruit this season. Got this tree from Trees N More.

Very cool dude. I got some trees from him 5-6 weeks back as I had visited ECHO near by.

My seeds arrived today with some samples of the fruit. My my....these were amazing. Melting flesh, sweet, juicy....delicious. Loquats have my attention now. Excellent packaging and communication. Top AAA+++ vendor.

I'll be attending. Missed 2019 but enjoyed 2017 and 2018. Hopefully despite with the venue change, the buzz and energy will be the same :D.

Got my seeds yesterday. Some sprouted :).  Thank you again Raul.

I am eager to taste white sapote myself. Videos I've seen about them looks very promising. I have a potted var "Suebelle" holding 2 fruits right now. I tried purple Caimito for the first time last month in Guyana and it tasted really good- like sweet, thick but soft coconut jelly. The center was enjoyable but towards the skin the mouth feel (lips, mouth roof) can get "clingy" with white sap. Nothing a little veggie oil wont remove. I have a 25gal one that didnt defoliate with this past frost so Im excited to grow it.

Congrats my friend :). Very envious of this guys yard- especially of those two beautiful mammea americana trees :D.

Fairchild II, in ground, fruited for me in 9B. If you have sandy soil (tends to be devoid of nutrients) I suggest you amend when planting. Mines struggled for the first 2 years.

My only regret since planting fruit trees first when I lived at my moms (in Broward) in 2006 was not planting a coconut tree. Now that I have my own space for about 4 yrs in 9B I try to grow everything I like tropical and sub tropical- that I can find. If you like coconut water, go for it. They take a while to bear but you will be rewarded. It sucks when I feel for coconut water and Publix and Walmart has good quality ones for $5 for an 8oz or $10 for a larger size. The water, jelly, husk (have you seen the prices for coco coir!?!?!)......lots of uses.

To start over huh. I'd go Julie (must have for obvious reasons  ;) ), Ice Cream, Sweet Tart and LZ. Mabye add PSM/ TBC and Maha for some asian representation :P .

Got my order today. Plants were much larger than expected, healthy and very well packaged. Everything arrived intact. Great communication. Thanks again :).

p.s. I just Love the jaboticaba sticker  :)

"Anomaly" Rose Apple :) . Very cool.

I'm in 9B as well. It hit 37oC yesterday in my area. Only mild leaf damage so far is my hog plum and some banana leaves. Young coconuts look fine. Both in ground caimitos look fine and my young in ground Jackfruit. Brought in my sensitive seedlings though.
