Tell him to check his email.  I sent him a temporary password.

I had quite a few international folks reach out to me on Facebook.  They were unable to log in.  I made some changes this morning that will hopefully allow them in.  If you receive communication from anyone that is unable to log in please message me their username so I can correct the issue!

Bear with us folks.  I am trying to get to the bottom of all of this.  We will likely unwind the Godaddy stuff shortly.

7
Jake,

We can whitelist the image loader I think.  Any suggestions?

8
Jake,

It seems we may need a bit of your expertise.. LOL

Godaddy blows.

They did remove a bunch of Malware last night, however we are still getting blasted by spammers.

I'm going to bump your account to a mod level for starters if you don't mind.  I will work on getting you an admin account if all goes well.

I added some settings to block spammers, requiring questions answered on the first five posts as well as more advanced captcha.

Jake,

I tried those this morning and crashed the site.. LOL I just signed up for a security plan from GoDaddy hosting at a hefty cost.  We were getting bombarded with spam and malware.  We had malware injected in the forum too..  It getting fixed now.

Jake,

That's one of the reasons we went with the SSL.  Another reason we lost Google ranking was because of the hosting update back in January.  Somehow there was a code that basically blocked all the search engines slipped in during the transition.  That was removed a few days ago.

Awesome tip! Thanks Jake!!

And yes, we are running on Cloudflare!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Another Outage!! Sorry Folks!
« on: February 28, 2021, 08:34:55 PM »
We had another glitch in the old site this evening.  I was able to get the site back up and running.  We are running on an older version of SMF so it was getting glitchy with the newer hosting platform.   Some of you may have noticed the lack of the ability to get to the site using search engines.  We reset the forum to the basic version to avoid conflicts, and restored the search engine optimization capability in the process! No data was lost.. We are good to go! (for now...)

It will take some time for Google to reindex the content of our site is what the hosting company is telling me.  We moved from a much older, slower, and smaller database version.  We had no choice, as the company and web in general are moving to the newer version.  This site is over 10 years old and delicate.  Sorry for any loss of data, there was no way to preserve everything without spending money.  We should be good for now, and Google will reindex us in time.

Folks that a rap!!

Thank you to all that contributed to this years fundraiser.  If you didn't get a chance to make a donation and wanted to we will run another next year (or sooner if we run into any issues). For now we are good for another year!!

Thanks again from the TFF Staff, Moderators, and Members!

Happy Holidays! It's that time of year again when we ask the members here to chip in what they can to keep us a member run private forum.  We have been up and running nine years now with the support of our members, and hope to keep it that way for years to come! I paid for the hosting of the website today at a total of $180.22 (receipt attached).  We had an incident mid year that required us to move to another hosting platform that cost about $100 to do, however the result lowered the annual cost for now!

If you have the ability to please support our forum! We can accept Paypal donations sent to ***Fundraiser Completed for 2021!***, that's me.  We are not looking to profit from the site, so please post what you contribute here so that others can see how much we are raising!

And thank you all of course for you continued involvement and support of the tropical fruit forum, we hope it benefits the tropical fruit collecting world!!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Additional Photo Option
« on: December 21, 2019, 01:18:07 PM »
It was brought to my attention that people were having issues adding photos to posts.  I have added an additional feature to the forum in the form of a blue "p" at the bottom of the text field when posting.  This should work if the old green "add image to post" doesn't!
