Just out of interest I understand they were developed at the gray farm in Julatten near port douglas and used to be a fairly popular variety for the back yard locally.I have not seen that variety for sale for many years now with nurseries selling the same 3 or 4 types.

Anyone know where to get gray abiu? Do seedlings not produce similarly?

Whitman grew Gray seeds from Gray himself and the fruit turned out just the same as the parent type.It is one of the top varieties.

I hope that E4 and the long yellow abiu are true to type.  The next generation is growing nicely here so far, thanks again!  Since the E4 seedlings won't be clones will they cross pollinate each other if something happens to the lone surviving long yellow?

A pretty consistent source for gray abiu is Plant It Hawaii in Kurtistown, Hawaii. I purchased one from them today and have seen them there regularly. They also have Z-1 and Z-2.

There must be gray offspring in Florida from when Whitman grew his.He was most impressed by the size and taste and I wonder if marisa can trace it's origin to the Whitman tree.

Don they are on a few farms and in a few yards around the place.Growers seem to be losing contact with the names of the varieties.
