Looking good 8) How are the jabo grafts doing? I threw a few grafts on my Sabara a couple months ago but they've been pretty quiet. How long does it usually take for them to poke?

Was this sold to you as Jaboticaba? If it was, you should try to get a refund because it is 100% not Jaboticaba. As pinkturtle pointed out, it looks like Surinam Cherry

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: luma apiculata fruit taste

Haven't tried the fruit, but the leaves smell sweet like bubble gum when crushed. Picked up this 1 gal from Mimosa nursery in Rosemead masquerading as "Blueberry Guava"::) Nice looking plant. It's getting a fancy pot on the patio as an ornamental/edible. Also grabbed a couple of plants that often get confused with Luma apiculata, regular and variegated Chilean Guava

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Loquat fruit issues

Interesting. An internal disorder would make sense. There's no broken skin or fungus growing on the fruit. I'll have to read up on it. Maybe change my fertilization and cover when cold. Thanks for the info everyone

Ooooo is this a Pothos thread now? Awesome! I just recently discovered Satin Pothos. Such a beautiful little plant and Iíve really become accustomed to the unique taste. It has hints of crippling stomach pain and mouth burning with a slight aftertaste of temporary blindness. Just donít eat too much of it or youíll end up in the ER. Im fine now though and the doctor said I escaped with minimal drain bamage and something about how some plants are for seeiní and not eatiní. What a quack ::)

Oh btw, cool little plant you got there Adam. Maybe one day it will get itís shit together and grow up to be a Pothos ;D

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Loquat fruit issues

I had the same issue last year.

http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=38938

My Big Jim also only rotted on the side exposed to light, including the fruits that didn't get direct sun, which kind of makes me doubt it's sunburn. I watched it slowly happen and the weather was cool and overcast the entire time. I see too many healthy, fruit filled, sitting in full sun Loquat trees around socal for them to be THAT sensitive to sunlight. What variety is yours? How's your weather been? I can't imagine you've had too many days over 70f in MB this year. I seem to remember it starting after we had a few consecutive days of rain. Has any water been sitting on the fruit? I ended up cutting all the fruit off and it decided not to flower this year, but it does look healthy with a lot of new growth. Good luck

Edit: Looking over that old thread and it looks like Jose Spain might have nailed it with Fusicladium eriobotryae. A fungus dispersed by rain and thrives in wet conditions. At least in my case, I think a rain storm dispersed the fungus to the outer exposed fruit. That might explain why even the fruit out of direct sunlight still looked burned. Google image doesn't have the best photos, but you can read the abstract here http://www.actahort.org/members/showpdf?booknrarnr=1092_46

I had hoped a good trimming would be enough, but I think I'm gonna have to spray my tree

I still get 404 errors on all links to this forum from web searches, no matter what browser I use. Seems to have started around the same time they switched hosts a couple weeks back.

Nice! Was this from seed? If so, how long did it take to fruit?

All this advice is still relevant, but you guys realize in a few days this post will be a year old. It can happen when people see January and still haven't adjusted to the year switching over

Or a spammer revives a year old thread, posts a sentence or two of some what relevant info, then segues into how the workers are poorly paid and posts a link to a app that will pay you to play games.

Yikes, I didn't even notice the link. Same user also bumped a post from 2016 ;D also with a link, but I think it's harmless.

I don't have an answer for you, but unless you're selling that, I think you posted in the wrong section. Nice tree though ;D

Super fast shipping! Well packaged with plenty of extra seeds and a beautiful cutting. Looking forward to my next order. Thanks :)
