I dont think its a great candidate because the tree is very vigorous and large.  It wants to get big.

Thank you Brad. There's a dwarf variety. But I don't know if it's available in US.

There is a move toward more compact trees for commercial orchards.

Maybe when those come into production it might be easier ? Unhulled nuts might germinate the same traits ?

Since orchard trees are most often grafted onto rootstock, maybe going the opposite way might compact the container tree ?
ie cuttings or marcotts.

There is a place Brackin's Macadamia Farm in Plant City, FL.  They might be able to give you some additional insights.

What Scott said!

I have around 39 mature macadamia trees and have potted many for sharing. In my experience, they just don't like pots.  Poor ragged little trees just take off when planted in the ground.

I see. It just doesn't seem viable now. Thank you.

No reason to not try!  So many successes are atributed to just doing it.  Report back on your results and techniques.

Maybe it is just me but I never put my nuts in containers.

I'm definitely not an expert on growing macs but theres a plethora of websites and articles talking about potting them from just a Google search.
I dont see the harm in trying; thats what I plan to do with my recently sprouted Beaumont seedlings. I wouldn't expect a big crop or a large, showy tree.
