This is the Swingle 5Star from Bernhard Voss (Picture by B.Voss)

Welcome to the forum!

I meanwhile have a Rose-Anne and a Piera. Piera bloomed in July and is no longer mature before winter. If it always flowers like this, I assume it's an early-flowering variety rather than a late-flowering one.

I'm still looking for E.prinoides, but no chance. Even google only lists a few hits. All in Asia.

SunDragon which has US119 in its pedigree is supposed to be HLB tolerant. It is fully edible.

just an idea about US119 if (only if) Duncan is heterozygotic for the acidless genes like in Siamese Sweet (although it isn`t offspring of Siamese Sweet) it would be likely to think that the combination of this Citrumelo hybrid with the acidless Succari Orange can led to a sweet US119.
(I know that the acid-free genes in pomelos are different from the acid-free genes in oranges, but as an abstract (simplified sweet / non sweet), it's a good idea of how backcrossing could lead to better hybrids).

Cold Hardy Citrus / Re: My citrus collection [EU - Antwerp]

It is often referred to as hybrid N°30. But since it is a variety name, there are no rules as to what is correct and what is not.

I would say that since you are using Citrus instead of Fortunella, it is helpful to use Kumquat in the common name. (but this is only my personal point of view)
Kumquats are distinct from true Citrus, although they are no longer a separate genus.

just another note :)
Botanical names are written with a capital letter for the genus, but with a lower case letter for the species names

Hi Robert, I'm still wondering what HRS means. I think it is an abbreviation for a particular collection. If so, it could be that HRS is the catalog number of US852 in a collection. Bernhard said HRS came from the Florida Arboretum, but I can't imagine how HRS could be related to the Florida Arboretum.... At that time, it was already permitted to pick seeds from the collection. Augusta Citrangequat also comes from a seedling from the Florida Arboretum.

Since half of the seedlings of US852 are nucellar, I think the other half must be zygotic. Bishop citrandarin, for example, is a US852 seedling

Perhaps a tropical environment is helpful. My limited experience with Southeast Asian and Australian species is that they are all very difficult to flower in my climate. Much more difficult than other Citrus.

36
Sylvain, are the hybrids with the Australians also early flowering?

Malcolm Smith told me that the precocious trait was diluted very quickly in their breeding program. But that was with hybrids of common citrus.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: Seedless clementine seeds

Thank you, your help is really valuable!

Btw do you know what variety is behind "early clementine" at Lenzi? I noticed the red dots on your picture, as a marker for Lenzi.

"early Clementine" is supposed to have a ripening period from November to January (according to Lenzi) then it could be Nules.

I am interested in a clementine that produces zygotic seeds when cross-pollinated. Are there varieties that reliably produce zygotic seeds?

If a clementine is crossed pollinated then the fruit is seedy.

Is this the case with every type of clementine? I am specifically looking for varieties that produce seeds

Well done! Let`s hope for a short juvenility.
Is Valentine more effective than Chandler to diminish the acidity in its progenity?

what about this one?

https://bluewood.yo.fr/produit/eremomandarine-hybride-satsuma-eremocitrus/

in the picture there is a label glauca x Shekwasha, so nothing special. But the description says Hybrid of satsuma-eremocitrus.
The label that comes with the plant says Eremosatsuma.

Who can help?
