Help ID - Cherimoya variety
« on: September 07, 2021, 11:22:29 PM »
I have an older cherimoya tree (15+yrs) that gives a few fruits a year, I plan to top work this tree but I wanted to check with anyone here about the variety. I don't remember what variety it was, a friend gave the small plant to me. When it sets fruit, they get pretty large ( 1 lb) and tastes sweet. The tree is large (8" trunk diameter) and get over 18 ft if I don't trim the branches each year to 10 ft.

Here's some photos of my tree and the large leaves it has. If anyone can tell the variety from the leaves then please let me know. I don't have any fruit photos of this tree.

It could be, I know it wasn't any of the new varieties. I may have an old photograph of the fruit somewhere, I will try to find it. If anyone guesses/determines the correct variety (first 3 people) then I will send free cuttings (5) as long as you pay the $8.45 shipping charge.

The person who gave me the plant probably purchased it from a local nursery so it should be a common variety that is easy to get. He didn't know the name of his tree but said the fruits were nice size and tasted good.

Could be 'Bays'. It's an impresa type for sure.

I had this tree in ground for over 20yrs, trunk diameter is about 12" and it grows up to 15 ft and I trim it back to 10ft each year.
