Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: ID this solanum fruit???
« on: October 13, 2021, 11:52:10 AM »
Looks like that for sure but doesn't have spines on the leaf and not as numerous spines in general. Sure there are different morphological characteristics on some specimens. Most soda apples are like a little bush though I've seen similar solanum more like a vine too.

A friend of mine found these growing wild. Says its more like a vine than a bush. Has thorns too. Anyone have an idea of what these are?

They are definitely cold hardy. Their natural range is much more northward of myself.

Dang man have tons of American persimmon seeds. Too bad I already sent your package yesterday...

You might try the person who was interviewed in this article-- Terri Pietrobergo. It was written 8 years ago, but its a start.

Tried contacting this person several times but never get anything back. Not sure she is even in biz anymore.

I have A. longifolia seedlings if you want some of those.

Dang would totally like to try some improved types. Only ever tried wild ones. Don't at this very moment have the funds to buy some though. How long is this likely to be available? I need to hit you up anyway for ashitaba plants.

Just a shout out for W. Good seller. Knows how to pack plants well. Don't hesitate to buy from him.

Temperate Fruit Buy, Sell, & Trade / Re: wanted : Piper Nigrum
« on: September 14, 2021, 02:45:15 PM »
Yes rooted cuttings in 4" pots. Can do $5 each plus shipping. Let me know quickly there's many people interested in them right now.

13
Have this ready to go now if you still need it.

14
I'd be interested in this species as well.

15
I could ship to CT no problem but if its freezing weather at that time there is risk of the cuttings getting too cold. This is a very tropical species.

16
I have piper nigrum and toona sinensis. Definitely can sell the piper. Need to repot the toona trees. Think there could be root suckers I could separate off. If you definitely want that I'll do the repotting and see if I can divide off a piece or two for you.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Mexican Sunflower cuttings
« on: August 30, 2021, 08:25:34 PM »
Mexican Sunflower cuttings for sale or trade. Super easy to propagate via cuttings. Grows very fast and puts on huge amounts of biomass in a season. Nutrient accumulator and high in nitrogen. Supposedly worth its weight in chicken manure. Famous for its use as a permaculture chop and drop fertilizer support species. Also has large yellow sunflower like blooms that attract many pollinators. $1.50 per cutting with a minimum order of 5 cuttings at $7.50. Plus applicable shipping or agreed trade.

Im mainly looking to trade for zone 8 hardy species that are edible/medicinal or fruit bearing plants. I'm into exotic stuff as much as conventional stuff. Rare medicinal herbs to perennial veggies and fruits etc. Make offers.

Inquire via pm. Thanks! DG

Hopefully my red Borneo that's finally making a comeback will be ready for cuttings again before long. Got really beat up by winter this past season. Keep an eye out for this type in the future.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Anatto trees

Had a tree when I was down in Sarasota but never flowered by the time I left. Only 2 or so years old though. These are all still young seed grown plants so not sure yet. Another member sent me bunches of seeds at one point and I ended up with dozens of sprouts. Plan to keep a few but probably have like 60 of them. Cant keep that many. Nice little trees right now though around a foot tall. Hit me up in pm if you definitely want to give it a go.

Have bunches of these guys getting pretty tall. They definitely need homes.

Thanks for the shout out!

Plenty of beautiful cuttings available again. Lots of nice growth happening right now. Repotted my largest tree with the flowers on it. Seems the first seed pod fell off immature probably due to the repotting. However a few flowers to come with one about to open. Hopefully these might mature with all the new soil and nutrition.
