Thanks D-Grower.     I will take you up on that offer!   Starting off with some meiwa seeds would be great.   My Nagami seedlings are still mostly doing well.    I had a little set back because I wasn't fertilizing them and most of their leaves were turning yellow, but I have that sorted out now.  I lost a couple of the seedlings, and most of the rest lost a few leaves but the remaining leaves greened back up and new leaves are in good shape and color.

How old is your plant?  is this the first year of it fruiting?  I would be happy to cover postage.  Please keep me posted, and thanks!

Lazarus

I do have a few ripe fruits now. Its pretty cold at the moment. Seeds would likely freeze in transit this time of year.

Don't have that variety myself. I do have a grafted nagami and meiwa tree. Fruit on them now. Could probably send you seeds if you like soon. I've noticed meiwa seeds don't like to sprout well but occasionally one will pop up. Not sure why they are like that for me anyway.

I have a small meiwa kumquat I might be able to take cuttings off eventually. Still holding fruit now so probably not the greatest time to take any on top of it being small. If I can make it to my buddies place sometime soon he has some large ones I can cut from. Probably loaded with fruit too though right now.

It seems I'm outside your project zone by a huge distance but I'd be interested in helping develop more cold hardy variety. Not as much as in propagation of existing cultivars but in the breeding of new varieties. My current goal is to amass as many cold tolerate types as possible and cross pollinate them and grow out the seeds and test for cold hardiness and fruit quality. It's a long term endeavor no doubts. I intend to breed more southern apple varieties too.

As far as zone maps go I'm considered 9A but in the last 6 years I've had winter lows as far down as 15F. That's a solid 8B on some of our winter seasons. Cold wise I think I should qualify for your project. Obviously I wouldn't be able to come get trees but we could share seeds and scions. I don't see fantastic in your list but it may also be under one of the other names. If you need scions for that variety I can send some whenever but figure early spring is best. I can also get brogdon scions too. Also have a Stewart seedling growing I could send scions from though it hasn't fruited yet. Only 3 or so years old. Have a few Wilma seedlings as well but are too young to cut from yet. If I'm not mistaken Wilma is Brazos Belle under another name. Could be wrong however these are seedlings anyways and not clones. There's a member here that once sent me cold hardy scions but cannot remember whom for sure but pretty sure their member name is Taylor something. From Arizona that I know for sure. I did get some successful grafts but unfortunately I moved the trees from up under the edge of my porch into full sun and burnt the leaves badly and then they couldn't recover. So success at first but then a complete fail from my bad. Stuff happens I guess.

My buddy uses Graco fertilizer at his nursery. Seems to work good. I really wouldn't want to use it personally but if you need too its worth a try. Osmocote I've heard works great too.

Special offer on bulk seed quantities. Small quantities remain same price. 100 seeds for $15 which is $5 discount over the proportional price. 200 seeds for $25 which is $10 off proportional price. 300 seeds is $45 for a $15 proportional discount plus free shipping on 300 seeds only. All seed sales under 300 seeds include applicable shipping costs. Great price for anyone wanting to grow out for grafting or just sale of seedling trees. My dad is considering doing some air layers off the mother trees if there would be interest in mature trees. I'd do it if I weren't an 8 hour drive from the trees I planted in his yard many years ago. Trees are likely worth becoming named cultivars due to good fruits and heavy production. I grew them from seeds originally myself around 13 years ago. Fruited for the first time around 4 years of age. 3 individuals in total. My dad says one particularly produces in greater abundance or so it appears. They produce many large fruits but also many smaller ones at the same time. Its been many years since I've got to observe the trees myself to pass judgements on each tree's particular qualities. Seeds are from a mix of fruits from all three trees. They flower and fruit more than once a year. He obviously just picked a ton for me this past week but next time they get loaded up with fruits I'll see if I can get fresh pics of them bearing.

As far as I know there was no such tree named Texas persimmon. There are currently more than 2000 different types of persimmon trees. Most of edible Persimmon type came from Asia (China, Japan). Persimmon trees we usually purchased in the US are grafted on Native Persimmon (Virginiana persimmon). There are some hybrid types between American and Asian persimmon which offer good taste, but the native persimmon was absolutely horrible and its fruits were used to cattles like horse, cow...

American persimmon fruits are really good you just need to know when they are ready to eat. When they fall freely from the tree and are squishy to the point you'd think they are too far gone is when they are actually ready to eat. They will loose all astringency and be really sweet and good. I'm sure some trees produce fruit lessly good than others but in my experience most are pretty good when fully ripe.

I have some seeds available. Already being stratified.

No problem thank you!

Received my plant today. All was good. Don't hesitate to buy!

May I ask your technique for rooting the cuttings?

I'm off to the western side of Apalachicola more near the Chipola River basin. I do have two triloba trees in my yard in part shade that seem to be doing well. They did flower the past two seasons but didn't set fruit. They kinda flower offset from each other might be why they didn't make fruit. They were from Just Fruits and Exotics which were called select pawpaw seedlings. Think they were grown from seed from trees near their area but could be wrong. I have otherwise found wild pawpaw stands near the river here that appear to possibly be triloba but some people in pawpaw groups on Facebook seem to think it's a naturally occurring hybrid pawpaw. Fruit is decent sized but not as big as up north. Haven't been able to try them so far. Tried to get them before animals did this year but animals are on them as soon as they ripen. There's also bunches of angustifolia up here which I have tried. Fruit smells good but flavor isn't the greatest or very sweet. Either way would be great to grow for deer and such as well as butterflies.

If you had originally bought kumquats that were oval with some sourness it was likely Nagami. Round sweet ones are likely Meiwa. I see kumquats in stores from time to time. I think due to their appearance the ones I generally see in store are likely Nagami.

I'm still potentially interested. Business has been pretty good these last few weeks. I've been so busy selling at festivals and as a guest at other nurseries and such. I really need to get propagating again before I sell low on everything. Hopefully get some stuff produced in mass soon.

97
I've got mysore I believe. It's features look right for what I have. Whitish canes and such. I might be able to share some when I propagate them more.

98
Sending you a PM.  Looking to get 5.

Replied thank you!

Let me know if you got my response, I'm not sure what is happening when I send PMs.

No pm from you but feel free to reach out via these methods.
