Frances Hargrave is a ‘Haden’ seedling. The fruit are oblong with a pointed nose and a weight of 16.5 oz (468 g). The color is aureolin yellow from base to apex and has a smooth skin. The flesh is of the same color with no fiber and a delicate flavor of vanilla and peach with a distinct coconut aroma. The tree grows slowly and responds quite positively to horticultural management, forming a dense, dark green canopy with large, healthy leaves. The yields are excellent, ripening during the early season in Florida. The tree, bloom and fruit have excellent disease tolerance. Fruit has excellent stage, with good potential for South Florida.

Are you going to let the tree hold fruit this year?

The tree is a cery stcky and sturdy tree.  It was originally purchased when reased  at Fairchild's mango fest.  It has actually held fruit the last 2 seasons and the fruit was quite good.  The only thing that may prevent it this season would be the moving and transplant shock and recovery.

This is from Fairchild's curator's choice description, which in my opinion is pretty spot on with both the tree and fruit from the tree that is now in Ed's family/possession:

Frances Hargrave told people it was a Haden seedling but it might actually have been a Keitt seedling. At a minimum it likely has Keitt in its parentage.

Dang.  Thats a beauty especially with the dark green leaves.  Will have to grab some scions this year because the tree and fruit sound incredible.

Looking very good! The pavers around the trees enhance the look and make the HOA happy.
See which way the wind usually blows from the water. Moisture from the pond and fungus problems. The prevailing spring winds.

My crystal ball sez you will have many mangoes very soon.

Yep, the pond / canal raises the relative humidity of the surrounding air for probably a hundred or so feet. So depending on other factors, fungus can be an issue in the future.

I would play it by ear. If fungal issues become a problem, then start attacking.
