Thanks for the shoutout, although I dont have the ones he's looking for. At least, they're not large enough to take cuttings from yet.

Whatís up BB! Great meeting you at the yangmei exchange, wish I woulda had more time to rap, damn kids...Are you growing S8 too? If so, does the fruit production, pollen, taste, fertility, etc. all match up with Voodoo? Iíve heard they are the same as well.

Yo man! It was cool meeting you some weeks back!

As for voodoo vs s8, I just acquired the voodoo child so I have not tried the fruit. Visually it looks really similar to s8. Perhaps the flower is slightly different in color among other things.

I read somewhere that an official DNA test was done that confirmed they were in fact different but highly related

Very mature cuttings of Voodoo Child dragonfruit from a 10+ year old plant.

Voodoo child is very similar to Sugar Dragon (S8), some argue they are the same.

Either way, voodoo child is one of the most productive, fertile varieties making very sweet rose-flavored fruits. It has one of the longest bloom seasons and is arguably the best supplier of pollen among any variety.

$10 for a nice standard cutting of about 16"  Some of these cuttings are extremely long and are priced accordingly.

Not trying to cause any grief but looking at the branch angles of the tree I have a hard time believing that the tree has never had some form of pruning done 🤔. Regardless if the tree is in fact 50 yrs old it is incredibly small for white sapote.

And as the owner says, the tree was there before he moved in. Maybe the previous owner did some pruning, that seems probable.

Here are some photos taken last week of the tree. It looks a lot better than in winter, but still, growth flushes seem to be quite small.

The leaves are very fuzzy.'

I've taken some scions to graft and I await to see how it grows on fresh rootstocks.

I finally have roots popping out the bottom but only for An Hai. There is perlite in my mix, the roots are the longer thin growths coming out of the drainage holes.

Have you watered yet? Impressed the roots have already made it down there

I have small trees and I'd be interested in a larger one

Wow amazing growth! I'm wondering if your extra light Is getting yours pushing faster..

While trimming back dead branches I accidentally caught the trunk and was amazed to see green!

This was on my black peak

The earlier pictures I showed of buds were on my biqi and anhai

Honestly I think its the quality of the trees more than what in doing. I had them in too much humidity and they were developing that white fluffy mold on the dead tips. So this is my new setup for now.

I've got a few hopeful buds on mine

Do you have any Sir prize scion now? Would love to place an order.

yes, pm sent!

I don't think I've ever actually had valencia.  Do you juice them?  Or eat out of hand?

You can eat them slice by slice but they are hard to peel and mist out those essential oils when you ory at the skin.

Juiced they are amazing, you can also cut them into slices and bite into the side. That's a good route

Man, that picture of the sliced orange sure makes them look fresh and tempting. You sure you donít do food photography on the side.

Lol you're giving me way too much credit :D

Should we start a separate post aboit the journey and techniques to keeping these trees alive.

Is a shaded greenhouse a good idea? Are night time lows still too cold?

Selling medium flat rate boxes of freshly picked Valencia oranges. They are super fresh and prime, no give to them at all. Nothing like most of the store-bought crap  ;)

The box contains 10 lbs of fruit. 2-day shipping anywhere in continental US.

Selling 10 lb boxes for 30, shipping is 15

Order sent out!

I actually purchased this plant from a long time member. He says he thinks its self fertile but admits he will combine a lot of pollen together and bulk pollinate so it's hard to be sure.

And since I've just got a hold of the plant I don't know how it tastes.

Google says it's a mild grape flavor and can reach 19 brix. I've seen it hit over 20. Several dragonfruit growers I know have described it as being among their favorites.

I had to heavily trim a very mature dark star (over 10 years old)

The small cuttings are 14" ($10) medium are $15 and the very large ones are $20. Some are over 30" long!
