Odd looking feijoa

I have a feijoa with new leaves that have a reddish tinge to them. When they harden they have a darker green and glossier sheen than the other seedlings I bought in the bunch with it.  The other seedlings have normal whitish tinged new leaves.

Anyone else have a feijoa with these odd characteristics?

A photo might help, but I've never seen that with feijoa.

I'll be bringing it to wetter WA. It's easier to see in person than to capture in photos.
