Anyone have experience rooting Persian Mulberry scions? I got several and put them all in pots because the little Pakistan plant I was going to graft to doesn't have any truly good places to graft on to yet.
Using basically the same method you'd use for fig cuttings, what was your success rate?

The key I have found is to keep the cutting from drying out before it
developes roots. I am in humid Florida and it is not hard. In the summer
you can pretty much place cutting in dirt and they root. In the Winter I have
taken a 2 liter bottle and cut the bottom out and cover the cutting. It creates
a humidity dome and gives the cutting a chance to root. I have not found that
rooting hormone helps significantly. I tried a group with and without on different
occasions and I usually have around 2 out of 3 root with or without the powder.
If you have enough cuttings you can also try placing some of the cuttings in a jar
of rainwater. I put the jar in a Southern window that gets indirect sunlight. Change the
water every week or so and after a month the cuttings will root on some mulberries.
The last thing is when I place the cuttings I cut them diagonally on the tips to give more
surface area for roots to develope.
