Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Graftatree Inventory Dump.
« on: July 13, 2023, 11:55:35 PM »
Hey,
it's been a while since anything has happened with graftatree...the website I sell seeds and stuff on.
But now, things are happening...We are looking to get our inventory out. Me and my business partner are both getting too busy to manage this business. Now, that does not mean graftatree is shutting down, it just means we are looking to exit the seed business (not exit for good, I will still sell a small amount of seeds). And my friend is looking to go focus on other things.
Yeah, it's been an epic journey making new connections etc.
I will still be selling seeds and trees etc, but just managing this huge amount of stock is too hard for us both. We're both getting ready for college application process and finishing up high school. My friend already has his own business to manage, and I'm so busy that I don't even get to care for my collection that much. Many of my trees could do so much better if I just put a bit more time into them. At heart, I'm just a collector, and I realize that while money is good to get out of this hobby, I think I was putting it at a higher priority than enjoying and collecting plants. So, basically dialing wayyy back on this, and in the process looking to dump the whole inventory for a HUGE price discount...Like 1/4 of what it normally would be. I'll be honest it kinda feels like a grind. I just want it to be fun, so I realize I need to stop.
It's a great opportunity for people looking to maybe start something up...
Now, it's kinda late so I may have missed some main points or something, but yeah, if you're interested, please pm me. It's a huge opportunity you wouldn't normally find.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Yangmei plants for sale
« on: July 01, 2023, 10:41:45 PM »
Hello everyone, I have some Yangmei plants for sale.
Varieties
Biqi $150
Dongkui $150
An hai hard silk $300
Qty varies per variety, some I only have a couple. Prices include shipping

Trees are in 1 gallons ready to ship out this week.
All grafted and healthy. Of course there’s the RKN issue, I checked each one and found no signs of galls. These are ones I’d plant in my own garden.
By purchasing you are responsible for your plant and its wellbeing and pests/diseases.

Also, I’ve been extensively researching if these need male trees for fruit. I can’t make any conclusions now, but hope to say results soon.
Pictures will be updated tomorrow.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Underrated Mangos
« on: June 28, 2023, 11:15:32 PM »
What are the most underrated mangos? The ones that are humble, forgotten, and good in taste.
I’ll go…will say that Andrew is pretty underrated. Forgotten. It’s classic flavor and super big. I liked it a lot.

https://www.greenhousemegastore.com/collections/plant-pots/products/standard-round-pots?variant=42701232865479
Im going to buy a case of 440 pots
Is there one person willing to split it?

They’re out of the other options that’s why I’m asking around.

Hey everyone. Got some cool passionfruit seeds up at graftatree.com
These 10 types of passiflora seeds we are offering come from an established passiflora collector in Indonesia. These varieties are grown and selected at his farm. Many of these have different tastes, and we are excited to offer these. Each selection is different in its own way and many have not been introduced into the US yet. We are thankful to be offering these, and like always if you are not satisfied with your order, we will make things right. I hope to add some more information in the coming days.
Best,
Ryan

Saw this today sand thought some of you would enjoy it?
https://www.fox13news.com/news/avocados-could-be-floridas-fruit-of-the-future?utm_campaign=trueAnthem_manual&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook

Such a shame the citrus and lychee industry down there is getting wrecked. Time to look for new crops I guess if you’re a commercial grower.

61
It's been a while since someone did a poll, So I figured we could do another one for trolls lol.
I'm asking this to see what trees I should leave in ground in my greenhouse. Space is limited, and I think I have about 14 trees in ground
red jabo, lemon drop, sabara, sapucaia, ndm, orange essence, fruit punch, mallika, loquat, pink guava, white sapote, lychee, starfruit, sap, and rollinia
Now,
I am wondering if it is worth keeping some of them in ground. For example, the guava tree is very a vigorous grower, but the fruit is only a guava lol. Same with the white sapote. I'd rather plant another lychee there in the spot of it.
But, what is the general public's idea of this? Keep or remove?
Sacrifice taste for more variety? Or have less selection but better fruits?
Is rollinia any good? One of the few ones I haven't tried yet. But the tree is growing so nicely, I feel bad removing it.

Same with white sapote. I've tried a few, but didn't really like them (decent), but now I got the mary lane, that just flowered, no fruit set, but now I feel like I should grow it out to fruit. But I don't know what to do.

So, I need your opinions on this matter if possible.
Potential candidates to replace in ground trees were my maruitius lychee and hak ip too. (lychee is my favorite fruit for most part)

What are some good tasting fruits you'd recommend based entirely off of taste?
One thing I can't do is jaks though, way too much of a commitment of space.

I don't know, but just wanting to get some feedback on my decisions as they will have a lasting impact.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Tropical Bananas are Cold Tolerant?!
« on: June 02, 2023, 03:52:55 PM »
My dwarf namwah banana has come back from the dead.
I planted it outside last year cause there is no space in the greenhouse. So, I thought it was a goner. We had lows of 9f this year with several consecutive days below freezing. I didn't protect it either.
But the plant today shot up another pup. I can't add a picture though as the image thing is glitching.
Up until now, I thought the only cold tolerant one was musa basjoo. But, it seems as if the corms have a degree of cold tolerance. I guess if it doesn't freeze below the soil it's ok?
Unfortunately, this really doesn't help anything though as bananas need a certain amount of time to flower. So, maybe instead the tropical ones can be used as landscape up north also?

New seeds have just been dropped on the website.
Stay tuned for more. Also, we have been working on merch and some other stuff. Also, if you saw my yangmei trees for sale, next time they will be for sale on the website. Last sale was so bad I apologize. Killed 17 of those trees...I think? yeah what a loss. Or at least they are not ready yet to send lol. But this time, they will be on the website and I have fixed my mistakes. Stay tuned should have them by late June early July all ready to ship out.
Also, we plan on getting the website into better shape. And thank you all for the feedback. We plan to implement what many of you have suggested.

I'm still finishing up the descriptions and will add more pictures shortly.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Finding Land in South FL
« on: May 29, 2023, 03:35:27 PM »
So,
I had a dream of getting land down in FL. Just right now, the funds for getting several acres in prime location is just not available to someone like me lol.
So, thing is, is it plausible to find a decent land (1/4 acre) for under 10k?
I found a few places I like, but what is everyone's thoughts on that? It would be bare minimum with no water, electricity, etc.
It seems like inland FL is really cheap. Anything by the coast is too expensive.
Lake Placid seems pretty cool, area looked cheap, and it looks like I could exploit the microclimate of the lakes in the area to be able to grow some stuff (mangoes, bananas, lychee, jabos...)
https://www.landsearch.com/properties/792-amour-dr-lake-placid-fl-33852/2590886
Something like this?
So, can someone tell me am I just going crazy, or is this something plausible? Good idea or super stupid?
What else do I need to consider?

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / An hai Yangmei cheap sale
« on: May 13, 2023, 09:50:37 PM »

I’ve been blessed with Yangmei, but not enough. Needless to say, this one needs to go. From bills order last spring. Has RKN, and whatever stuff it came with lol. Tried treating it, but wouldn’t go away.
If no one wants it, it’s going to be incinerated.
Got enough stock it’s not worth my time.
I would give it for free, but not worth shipping it
Asking $60
Free ship
Literally $10 more than the bare root trees lol
Cheap
Don’t guarantee this one. Its like full send May die lol.
Growing from above and below graft.
Peace out
✌️

« on: April 24, 2023, 02:58:57 PM »
Hey guys,
graftatree is having another business sector open up, and this summer it looks like it will be merch! We will be making our own custom shirts and hats and other products.
Now, we want to expand that to the community. Have a seed business and want to do tropical fruit tree merch? We got you covered. We can do it for about 1/2 the cost of other providers. Given normally you can find custom shirt for around $14-18 each. We going to do bulk orders only so only orders of above 50 shirts are viable.
We have already talked to several potential people about merch. If you're interested, please let us know.
Best,
Ryan

Hello everybody, unfortunately my FL trip this year will be missing lychee season.
Lychees are one of my favorite fruits.
I know the lychee crop season is coming up. For you home growers down in FL, would any of you be willing to overnight me any lychees?
In return, I can send you grafted yangmei plants or jaboticaba plants. whatever you want to trade.
All you gotta do is overnight me a box of lychees.
We can discuss more via pm, but just getting it out there.
I know season has not started just yet.
Best,
Ryan
