Pasar tamu (Week market) is on thursday in keningau where the weather is less wet than in Tenom.

Durio kutejensis (Durian dalit in Sabah)

Baccaurea lanceolata (Buah liposu) sour only the skin is use for cooking

Nephelium lappaceum (wild ramboutan)

Tobacco. In Sabah farmers sell their tobacco in some Pasar tamu as keningau, Temparuli, Kota Belud, etc...They roll their cigarettes in leaves of Nypa frutescens.

Yes it's a little bit like Garcinia forbesi and Garcinia parvifolia but may be the labelling was not good because few year ago in Kuching I tasted Kandis (Garcinia nitida) and the fruit was yellow and sour. That's the problem in this country the scientifics names may change if you're are in Sabah or in Sarawak (not a lot correlation between the specialists). It's the same thing with the labelling of Salacca edulis (I think it's a kind of affinis)

How are your Salacca plantation ?

Stelechocarpus burahol (kepel) so good !!!

Myrciaria vexator

Mangifera pajang (Mawang or embawang) huge mago with a champedak smell !

Talisia esculenta (African breadfruit)

Garcinia nitida (Buah kandis)

Diospyros diepenhorstii...fibrous but interesting

Go to Miri then Bekenu and ask for Durio testudinarium or go to the Lambir hills park near Miri and inform you with the guards about the Durio dulcis (Tuttong or red durian or durian merah). They have two big trees of this species near the entrance. I think in Kuching it will not be the fruit season so move to Sibu, Bintulu or Miri. You may have more good surprises in the south of Sabah at this time.

This one seems to be a Terap (marang) or a Pedalaï (Atocarpus sericicarpus). But if the leaves begin to be entires so it's a terap.

In Sarawak Phaleria macrocarpa (Makota dewa) is use like a médicinal drink. You have to cut the fruit in thin slices, let them dry then put in boil water (how long I don't know).

Impossible to know the speed of the wind, we noticed that some little place are completely distroyed and two meters further one papaya or an avocado are completely safe (no leaves down). The same way happened with the garden of one my friend (half garden is destroyed and half safe). I think your informations are the same we got but the meteo services didn't warn anybody so they don't want to recognize what it happens. Even the prefect (like governor) let people goes working this morning.

My garden was a small jungle of 2 thousands square meters
 trees uprooted: 3 rambutans, 1 pejibaye, 2 Mocambo, 1 biriba, 1 Durio dulcis (snif), 1 durian, 2 abius, 1 hudge breadfruit, 1 lecithis, 1 pulasan, 1 macadamia, 1 white sapote, 1 bactris sp.(chunta), 2 mapati, 1 chupa chupa.
Trees crushed: 1 garcinia acuminata, 1 kepel, 1 Jaque "varika", 1 pouteria sp. (zolive from French guyanne).
Now I have about one thousand square meters as a new story to write !

Thank you for your friendly messages.
My place is in the North East of reunion Island. I think I'll can save few of my trees (wild durio zibethinus and one rambutan) but one of my Durio dulcis (12M high) is really dead.
Life will go on and new trees will be planted.
Some trees are wind resistant: salak, Theobroma cacao, Garcinia mangostana, Manilkora sapota, Mangifera indica, Garcinia parvifolia, Myrciaria jaboticaba. One other lesson: in hurricane place don't let grow the trees upper than 6 meters.

Hi Doug,

For me before flowering it's impossible to distinguish male and female. The only good new I can give you it's that I noticed than male plants flower before in age than female plants.
  So wait ans see...

Yes for the dango but I don't know the species (big like W.elmeri but the flesh color is different).
I saw one time that kind of pulasan in Miri (Sarawak) the skin is the same as others pulasans.
