Mango flowers are now coming up mixed with foliage
« on: February 04, 2018, 01:40:10 PM »
The cold weather had even my most stubborn trees flowering but the burst of warm since has resulted in about half of new growth coming as flowers and the rest as leaves. Anyone else seeing this?

I have been seeing it on my mango trees as well.  It is common and usually happens at this time of the year, when a cold spell is followed by warmer weather.

Yes, and even some pure vegetative growth emerging. High in the 80s in some days in the 10 day forecast too with a lot of buds still dormant.

If we get another cold spell can this help panicle production or is it getting too late? This winter was cold but we needed more cold. We still may get it.

Do the leaves on these mixed panicles also have growth nodes? If I were to pluck off the fruitlets, do I prune back to the original node they grew from or can I leave some of these new leaves and expectmore lateral branching?
