Looking for paw paw fruit
« on: September 22, 2020, 08:55:37 PM »
Anyone have paw paws for sale? Do they ship well?

My trees dropped all of their fruit this year so I wasn't able to try any and I am very impatient haha.

I am located in NJ so foraging is not really an option.

USPS priority top loading medium flat rate box is preferred if you are able to ship this way, plus your asking price

Thank you

I can feel your pain!

They are hard to ship but it's not impossible. I don't have any to send and not sure i would trust my packing skills.

Try searching Earthy Delights

Oh yes, earthy.com is an option!

I've looked into ordering from them when they had some in stock, but thought their only available shipping option was unreasonable (UPS overnight service $$$)... but I suppose that is a reasonable cost for impatience!

I will have to wait until next year unless I am inspired to take a drive and forage some in PA haha

I have paw paws here in western NC but only sell to locals due to fragility and poor shelf life. I do however ship my homemade paw paw jam which is our paw paw , sugar, and Sure Jell, canned in 8 oz jars the traditional way. Good on shelf for a year or more.

Send Me your address in a PM?

45 bucks for 3 pounds I'd buy from the guy that runs pawpaw fest Chris , this year he is sold out of fresh fruit He has frozen pulp.
I also read Chris Ships his well.

I have had the jam it has spice bush berries in it, and taste strongly of allspice

there may be a possibility I could ship some
I just got some in the mail ,they taste good took 2 days
but mostly wanted this variety of seed that I received 12 years ago again.

people that do Shipping fruit may want to add charcoal as it absorbs ethylene
(here is something from online )

Quote
When put in refrigerators and drawers, bamboo charcoal absorbs odor and hazardous substances in air. Placed in vegetable section of fridge, and it will absorb ethylene gas and keep vegetables and fruits fresh. Also, the charcoal keeps your clothes and shoes dry and comfortable.

I forgot to add how much did you want shipped ?
I am not shipping as I will not be home, but like I said the person in Southern IL will.

Red fern Farm isn't for shipping , but maybe if you buy enough they will.
This is a U pick (I know of others , but a little short on time right now
this on the east coast the other one  Maryland below redfern farm

This isn't listed as a company that sells, but I've talked to them, and they seem nice
I am sure if you buy a good amount they might ship always worth a try.

Thanks for the links and info. I looked at some of those places and it looks like they are out of stock like you mentioned.

I haven't contacted the farms although I feel like I wouldn't purchase as much to make it worth their trouble nor could I consume the amount haha, however I discovered the Facebook market place today (thanks to Citradia) and some people have paw paws up on there... a lot of them are local pickup only but it doesn't hurt to ask in any case.
