Yeah you can buy a whole tree.  You just need to fly there and sit in a covid quarantine for 2 weeks then go shopping.  Small price to pay lycheelust.  Someone needs to step up and take one for the team...

You had better line a nursery up to keep some aside as they are all being snapped up pretty fast. Spaugh you need to take 6 or 7 for the team, then madly propagate and hoard. I am sure you would be popular in the lychee community and have a lot more friends than you realised. You could drip feed them out.

But isn’t that just for export. How about USA importing? Doesn’t it have to quarantine for 1 year+

There is a compelling case for not throwing the Californian lychee realm into turmoil. Commercial growers have invested a lot into establishing the existing varieties and there are many mature trees. Not sure they would take kindly to these blow ins from overseas.

I’ve never seen a California grown lychee so they’re not very intimidating

No Erdon Lees are big and that handsome paw is my hand in the pix. LL I could book a one way ticket for Mrs Erdon Lee or Mrs Sue San-Lin from Cairns to LA  and leave it in a wheelchair at the airport with the ticket. A hat, balaclava and blanket as well as sunglasses would work. What could possibly go wrong if someone picks it up from the airport?
BTW the accident was we don't have thanksgiving here.

Wish i knew how. Tons of cool fruit in this forum I wish to get to vietnam but they basically check every package on arrival via the mail, maybe not the shipping services, I need to ask, but regular mail through customs seemed to be all checked. When the borders open up I hope to try and find some other forum members who may travel here to bring seeds on the plane, cause customs dont seem to mind that.

Well lychee fans I found myself strolling around the Gordonvale monthly market this morning admiring the local produce. I was contemplating the new lychees including chompogo which reputedly has very large fruit of great taste and it is a heavy bearer by all accounts and then I saw it. The last chompogo lychee for sale and a big healthy marcotted plant for around $US28.I allowed a more committed purchaser to jump in and swoop on this last one. It looks like this lychee variety is officially in circulation now.

Xiang pogo is the alternate name for this variety which is getting a foothold in the mainstream now.

Have just finished picking my Erdon Lee and seedless Sanlinsue. The 2 seedless varieties in Australia are Sanlinsue and Suelinsan. The names are derivatives of the growers daughters names.  He is a friend and neighbour. The name Sansuelin is not a variety. Of note have also picked fruit from a seedling of Erdon Lee the last couple of years.  The tree is about 7-8 years old. Very difference if any in size or taste from the parent Erdon Lee.

So is the erdon Lee seedling completely different, or is it similar? Can you describe it
