formerly TR2, and officially named “Shatzer’s” hybrid, this trunciflora x red seedling is amazing...fruits big, with small seed, low count and silky smooth pulp ...small tree fruits in 8y from seed approx 6ft tall, mine short because of pruning for scions,, this hybrid is most excellent

here's mamma tree as of today, about 8yrs old by now...

Rex,

i think the fruits are so small because of drought and lack of water, they should attain normal size eventually.

Simon,

thanks very much!  I hope it keeps up, so i can graft one day!

ScottR,

yes first fruiting, it's a runt tree, and a seedling of a black pitanga, its sibling is like 5x the size and has been making black fruits for years....

the one i have with double sized flowers is really good, it has an unusual texture and taste, and fruits are huge...

reminds me of pitangatuba and pitanga mixed...firm fleshed fruits...

I think the last speech i gave was in 2014 to the Tropical Fruit & Vegetable Society of the Redland (Rare Tropical Fruit Conference)...about 7yrs ago.

I figured that was as good as it gets, and really didn't have much new information to share, so I stopped giving speeches and stayed at home on the farm to take care of my plants and animals.

I turned down a lot of requests to speak over the years, and recently tried to turn down another, but made a joke "if they let me do a zoom speech I might consider"...it ended up biting me in the butt, because now with COVID, all the speeches are via zoom...so i had no way to refuse (my usual excuse is, I have no employees, and have to stay and watch the farm...and it's not worth it for me to travel for a speech, I'd make more money and have less stress just staying at home).

So now I'm preparing a speech for the same society that paid for my last speech in 2014, the Tropical Fruit & Vegetable Society of the Redlands, on the 31st of March 2021.  The same subject as before, but now with 7yrs more experience.

To see the speech I assume you'd have to pay the dues for the club....maybe worth it because of all the zoom speeches they'll have?

I think they may film it and have a way to share it, but don't quote me on that....

Wow, Adam, you've hit it again what kind of ratio are you running with early flowering seedling! You the man! :)

i didn't do anything special Robert.  It was more luck than anything, because i planted over 100, and only about 2 of them flowered so early, this one is much shorter than the other tho, maybe by 3x...it's the smallest Plinia ive ever seen put on a flower, if it sets fruit, it will be laughable to look at.

21
i think about 2.5-3yr, but i lost track, so it could be older....

no it's just random chance, I've planted over 50 easy, and only one other flowered so soon, but it's 4x taller.

yes it's a seedling of anomaly, but i haven't had any of the others flower this soon, so small http://youtu.be/A-sKyEq2ga0

So, jokes aside, how old is the anomaly Jr?

Do anything experimental to help it induce, or just happen randomly?

Very nice find indeed.

lol nobody cares anymore....it's all about those aroids now....

Aroids aren't too shabby in their own right.   ;D

true, are there any good aroid boards you can recommend?  I need something that's non-fruiting, that i can keep in the house and stare at.
