I had an amazing pineapple to taste this year. Bought two plants at a Flea Market with no name tag but they looked very healthy and different from what I grow. The seller didn't know the variety name. Well, they fruited and the fruit looked long conical in shape (weird) and a bunch of pups and suckers. The whole plant looked like a bush with the hidden pineapple inside.. ;D The taste of this pineapple blew me off. It was so sweet and juicy. It was gone in a few minutes, lol. The inside was translucent white/pale yellow. So, I thought before it was a sugarloaf but I had one before that was different. I looked it up and found a few videos on YouTube about Eleuthera pineapple and it looks very similar to what I got. Does anybody else grow this pineapple and can tell me what variety is it?
Some pics.

Wow I’ve never seen a translucent pineapple before, looks really interesting. Are you growing those pups?

The pineapple looks over ripe and starting to ferment.

Simon, it was perfectly ripe. I thought so too when I cut it opened but the taste was incredible. I've tasted rotten pineapple before. I will post more pictures tomorrow.

I haven't too. Yes, I am growing some of those pups.

Nice on growing the pups, now you can see see if the first fruit was a fluke/overripe or if the great tasting experience can be repeated. Keep us posted in time.

These pictures were taken under the light inside and the color looks yellow. You can see that the pineapple isn't overripe.

This looks more true to the color.

JoeP450, I had two plants. Another one was too young to produce fruit but did and it was 'lost' in the garden, in a small pot so the fruit was small. I didn't think it will develop at all but it did. An animal got it before me but there was a piece I could cut off and taste. The taste was the same yummy.

Check out this video on 2.46 min. This pineapple looks similar to mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDLLYp2mCw0&t=296s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDLLYp2mCw0&t=296s)

The leaves look very spiny, armed ferociously. I used to see pineapples with foliage like that but nobody wants to deal with spiny leaved pines here anymore.

That looks like an abacaxi to me.
