Kaz, thank you my guess is 40- you’ve been good to everyone in the forum and everything I’ve gotten from you has been doing great. To celebrate that, I’m giving away one of my shangri la mulberries I got from you.
First person to say I love mulberries in the thread wins it. Just pay for shipping. Will ship out tomorrow.

This awesome and fun. We should do this often. Too bad I do not grow loquat(I hope this is a loquat) otherwise I would join the game. This loquat looks delicious.

Guessing number 51. my 18 month old loquat seedling really could use a Peluche scion. if I guessed wrong, could I buy a scion anyway?

Yeah. It's gotta be 88. Eighty eight it is. I'm pretty sure it's 88. I just asked my the guy across the street and he assures me it's 88 ;)

shmojojojo , you got the correct number, 88.
Send me a PM and I will arrange to cut/ship your winning Peluche next Monday.
My clue was going to be Duke basketball.

Awesome! Thanks Kaz!
I have a couple of Big Jim seedlings laying around that I was wondering what to do with too. This is perfect :)

Actually, your answer and Kaz's reply helped lead me to my guess. That and "Contest will go on until some lucky person guesses the correct answer."
Not sure if that was a hint, but 88 is considered a lucky number.
Congrats shmojojojo & thanks Kaz!
Thanks! I never win anything :o

shmojojojo, I see your small seedling loquat, I suggest you graft it on a larger tree. Then I know you will have a much better percent of good take. Grafting onto those smaller seedling can work, but many times the scionwood that small may not be hardened so it will not be a good idea to graft to those.
Once the graft on your larger tree takes, then its much easier for you to take a small cutting from your grafted Peluche and graft it on those seedlings later in the year.
Good to know. I agree, the seedlings can wait.
Since I'm grafting to an in-ground tree in full sun, is there any location you'd recommend for the Peluche branch? Does it tolerate 100F full sun?
Thanks again. Peluche has been at the top of my list for a while now!
-
If you can graft to one of the inside branch so its in the shade of some leaves that would be good. If not, then just remember to use a brown paper bag (lunch bag) and cover the scion so it won't have direct sun until after the graft takes and new leaves are growing out.
