Air layered Guanabana/Soursop after hearing it wasn't possible. This tree produces medium-large fruit compared to the small ones from the supermarket.

a hike to where the mother annona haitiensis was but bad news as the plant has died and been cut down. there were 3-4 of this species but spot is empty.

looking around however there's hope..as i see a plant that looks pretty familiar to the a.haitiensis i had seen almost 10 years ago. now i am again surprised at how small the plant and leaves are and also the shape can easily be mistaken for other trees around there that are in the bean family and such.

Street Fruit vendor in Santo Domingo. He sells very big and quality fruit. He doesn't seem to have much customers unfortunately they suffer a lot of poverty.

This is the coast...you can't really swim because the water will crash you into the rocks or you can also be sucked down into caves...for the beach one has to travel away to any other state which is unfortunate for me.

Nogal/Dominican walnut-Juglans Jamaicensis Extremely rare...from this whole bag nothing has germinated for me. Gave 10 to my brother and he told me he hit them with a hammer and they germinated for him. Idk if i believe him  ::)

Almacigo-Buseras Simaruba These all germinated for me and idk what to do with so many seedlings. This plant has medicinal uses but it's not a fruit tree.

Byrsonima Spicata-Maricao From a full bag only two of them germinated!!!! That's why i don't sell this.

so here there are caimito's of very "green color" genetics. found this one on the floor over ripe turns almost brown or yellow but still won't be purple.

Pouteria Domingensis-Totuma
A species under critical danger of extinction. This is quite short compared to most pouterias. The fruit is said to be good i've never seen it.

Mamón is custard apple...that one seems to be an improved cultivar because it's very big compared to the wilds one i've seen around here before. I think i have like 2 seedlings of this fruit have i've NEVER potted up in like 8 years xD and they are still doing ok.

Wow. Amazing pictures and hunting! If I was interested in Pouteria and Annona what would be the best time to visit and explore DR?
