Title: Shorea macrophylla, anyone seen a fruiting tree?
Post by: cassowary on January 14, 2023, 06:41:09 PM
Shorea macrophylla
Kawang jantung
engkabang jantong
illipe nut

Mast flowering events often 5-7 years apart, Endemic to Borneo.
Flood plains, along rivers, dipterocarp forest.
Kernel rich in edible oil.

Have anyone ever seen this tree fruiting or held a fresh seed in their hand? Does anyone know when the last mast fruiting event was?

Peace,
