35$ for half a pound shipped to me. Is it worth it? Tempting but seems really steep. If you e never had, totally worth it. If you have had, totally worth it.
chiming in to ask if any of the nurseries in socal sell grafted mangos on manilla instead of turpentine. I wanna drive out there soon to buy more tropicals.
Home Depot usually does at this time of year.
Just harvested a ton of mangoes today, I’ll have mangoes available for a few more days. Last call if you want to grab some before they are gone. The flavor profile is amazing this season, don’t miss out😊🥭
Thank you to those who purchased already!
I guess parcel shipping isn't even possible? I only see Local Delivery as an option, if I enter my zip as 90210
But somehow I don't think it will reach me when I fill in my real address three thousand miles away.
They spoil super fast. Sometimes overnight after ordering. While the plastic clamshell is probably slightly better than cardboard, it also is full of condensation so I am wary that they will survive. I think ice pack + overnight ship, maybe survive? Bout to be $100 delivered, I'd guess, for 30 fruit.
I have always thought of pawn shop owners as sinners. Here is another one, yangmei farmers, taking advantage of the others in bright daylight. Price not justifies the cost.
You clearly have no idea about economics. Either do I, but I do understand the concept of supply demand. There’s essentially zero supply in a huge demand. If somehow it gets to the point where it hits the main stream it obviously will not be that much.
I do have some understanding of supply and demand, and capitalism. After all, I have spent a good portions of my life living under communism, socialism, and capitalism looking for quality of life.
As far as the cost of maintenance, I would not imagine, in China, that yangmei costs 5 to 10 time the price of longan , lychee, etc... A decent comparison would it costs more to maintain yangmei over fig?
Anyway, like Kaz said, before jumping on the wagon, buy the fruits; eat the flesh; and sell the seeds to help recover the cost.
Thanks Kaz for the detailed fruit pics! If they become available in the Bay Area I'll have to buy a box.
Update of the order. Purple Pearl Yangmei
Just got my 2 boxes, bought the lasts ones, sorry.
Each box (plastic box, improvement over the paper box) contained the following:
Box 1= 29 fruits
Box 2= 30 fruits
So, you can easily recover you cost of the box by just selling the seeds for $1 each. I better buy a few more when they have the Sweet Violet.

You can start your own Yangmei farm with trees that are already fruiting if you have $1.5-$2Million. I looked into this and decided not enough profit for the investment at this time.

They require so much work in terms of maintenance and the manual labor involved with harvesting is insane compared to other common crops.I am curious what are the extra maintenance requirements for yangmei when growing commercially outside of the harvest season?
Harvest season incurs much of the cost but because Yangmei is such a new crop, the initial investment for grafted trees, soil conditioning, consultations, etc are also very expensive. Depending on what rootstock you use, the soil requirements are different and certain rootstocks take longer to reach commercial production.
Once the trees are in ground, not all trees may survive so you have to purchase replacement trees. Once your trees are large and in full production, there is a lot of costs involved with pruning the trees because they grow so vigorously.
That’s not even the half of it, I do some Yangmei consulting and don’t want to get into the details but just before harvest season, if you haven’t prepared properly, you could easily lose much of your crop.

I did have a question for anyone who was able to root the lucuma cuttings.
If you had success, can you tell me how difficult it was, and about what your success rate was for cuttings you tried to root. I plan to root all the left over cuttings that don't sell this weekend and want to know if it is easy to root or difficult like a guava cutting.
When I go back to see the Sylvia tree to do more air layers, I may get some cuttings for people if anyone is having success rooting them.
Not saying they taste bad, im saying that they have no taste. Paying $40 for something that has no taste is off-putting and disappointing. I guess what was done wrong was selling fruit with no taste and ignoring my private message about my bad experience, offering no resolution or even concern. I love all fruits, that actually have flavor. Same goes for my coworkers that tried them as well.I sent you a private message about it and gave you 24 hours to respond giving you a chance before putting my feedback here, but that did not happen. I left the rest of the beans in the box incase you wanted them back, but I did not hear from you. I saw that you were active here all day, so there were chances to get back to me, but crickets. To be honest, these cannot be considered a treat. There is no sweetness or flavor at all, not enjoyable, and $40 down the drain. Some people try to make a bad situation right(which is why I pmed you), but there was not even a response to my message. Ah wellI'd suggest holding off of purchasing these ice cream beans folks. I received mine yesterday and they have no flavor and no sweetness. Waste of my $40 😞. I even brought some to work so my coworkers can try them(they've never had ice cream beans) and they all said they were bland with no taste 🤦🏽. It's not my taste buds that are off
Would you like me to try them first before sending to you? You gave me 24 hours to respond, really? You didn’t like the fruits. It’s as simple as that. I sent you perfectly fine pods and they arrived in perfect condition. What more do you want from me?
Lol wow, first off ice cream beans aren’t bursting with flavor. They are mild little treats and I’m not sure anyone sits there and eats a bowl of them. You’re obviously free to speak your mind but jeez, just shut me down like that… awesome.
Was there something that I did wrong here? I sent you a perfect box of ice cream beans. You’re acting like I’ve done something wrong here. I’ve had many people eat them and enjoy them. Just because you didn’t like them doesn’t mean you should act like this. I eat different fruit all the time and obviously some I like and some I don’t.
