Anyone have any recommendation on the type of soil they’ll be using for these new acquired trees?
Is there a generally 'favored' variety?(Sweet)It depends on the variety. Dongkui is considered the most popular and easiest to grow. It produces large fruit with excellent flavor.
hey bill, I sent ya an email couple days ago. I am not sure if you saw it, but I did not get a reply.Could you please forward that again? I may have missed it.
Hi Bill
With the weather warming up here, I've decided to withdraw my order. I don't think there will be enough time for the new yangmei trees to adjust after the long trip, and I'd rather not risk their health. If you plan for another order winter time I will be in ..
Good luck to all.
Please send email to me with your order info, and shipping address, phone number, this will help ensure your order is included when we place the formal order.I want to buy two Donkui trees. one is female and one is maleAnyone know if these grow / fruit in the tropics? Or is more a subtropical zone fruit? Does it require any chill temps?Yeah probably want to stay away from them in the tropics.
Oscar fruited it in HI, but he barely gets fruits from what I hear.
I mean the seeds can benefit from cold stratification, so its a more temperate/subtropical tree if anything.
But wusu variety is supposed to be good in warm places.
My friends in SFL I am not sure how theirs are doing. But chill hours may be a factor in flowers.
Acidity of what and moisture of what? If you have details we would like to know. We all want success. If your friend has any specifics please let us know.I had a grafted one in a container that was doing great for months then suddenly declined and died. I want to try again, including in-ground in my greenhouse.Any reason why these would not survive on their own roots?
My friend Harvey has achieved a high success rate with his over one thousand trees growing on their own roots. Key factors to consider include soil acidity, moisture level, etc.
