If you take a stick, wrap it with copper wire and stick it next to your plant in the soil it will grow MUCH faster/better.

Did anyone try this technique before?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / green eating mango's from outside thailand
« on: April 03, 2020, 03:01:13 AM »
I'm done with overly sweet mango's which only taste sweet and more sweet. (like namdocmai).

Now i'm in love with green crispy mango's which are picked very early.

Are there any good varieties outside Thailand? I already have mun khun si and keo sawoey (thai mango's) but can use some more varieties from abroad.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Anthracnose without rain?
« on: March 26, 2020, 04:24:12 AM »
I think almost ALL my fruittree's have anthracnose but it didn't rain here for many months....i did spray them with water sometimes though. Can that make antracnose to spread?

And the strange thing is that the more sunshine the tree's get the worse the leaves are looking...

It is also killing a small durian tree which i hate to see.

Tree's at the other side of the house get less sunshine, they also have it but not so bad.

So can anthracnose spread in the dry season as well?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Grumichama not fruiting
« on: January 03, 2020, 09:51:32 AM »
After 7 years the grumichama is not fruiting.

It is in full sun and some websites say that is no good, we have very much sun...

Is there a trick to make it bloom or is 7 years normal? I am tempted to move it to a less sunny spot but it grows well now finally, first 3 years it looked terrible.

Citrus General Discussion / When to pick citrus (dekopon)
« on: November 24, 2019, 11:21:22 PM »
My dekopon is soft now, when i push the rind some juice is coming out and it smells great. But will this one turn orange in our climate (which is always hot). On internet i see totally orange dekopons grown in indonesia.

Should i pick it now since the color is getting more brown or just wait longer?

I have no experience with oranges/mandarins so any advice is welcome.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Bee magnets
« on: October 15, 2019, 05:40:09 AM »
What is the bee magnet in your garden?

For me the #1 is eugenia candolleana but only untill 8 am.....thousands of bee's come for the flowers.

The #2 is icecream bean, it attracts bee's all day long, nonstop.

Before we grew these tree's we rarely saw a bee.
