Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: papaya issues in SFL
« on: July 01, 2018, 11:43:50 AM »
I'm in East coast FL and I've had a papaya who's leaves looked just like that. It is nowalmost  fully recovered. It did drop a lot of fruit but that may have been due to stress from the hurricane, it was partially knocked over and I had to tie it back up to a fence.

I didn't do anything in particular to help it recover, I think I might have sprayed it with neem oil once or twice.

So there is hope!

They are in miracle grow soil from lowes mixed with some local soil. Here are some updates:

In addition: I have a new problem. These weird bugs started appearing on the end tips of my barbados cherry that I bought from Truly Tropical a month ago. I have no idea what they are and they are spreading fast. I tried spraying neem oil on them and it didn't help. They keep spreading.

If anyone could help me identify my problems, that would be great!

Thanks,
Davis

I water the papayas with a watering can that has had city water sit in a watering can for at least 24 hours, to let the chlorine evaporate. Is that enough or should I be doing something more? The mangos I water straight from the hose, I will change that, I will set up a rain barrel soon. It has been raining here consistently lately so I haven't been watering for a while.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Help: Papaya and mango saplings

Hi,

I have some mango and papaya that I've sprouted from seeds that are not doing too well. The mango leaves are turning brown, and since this picture (a week ago) some leaves have fallen off. I don't know what to do. Is this spreadable to other trees or is this a nutrient thing? Should I kill the plants?
I also don't know whats wrong with the papaya seedlings. The leaves are all yellow and they are not growing well. Since the picture, I've lost a few of them. I haven't put any kind of fertilizer because I don't want to kill them, they are very young.
Any suggestions?
