Yes, it's passiflora arids var.-pentaschista is from Baja had it growing with tasty little fruits but lost in rain this Winter. Grows well with little water and need to protect from to much water in Winter. Seem to be fine down to 28F but feet seems to have killed mine. PSI-look for passiflora internation society sale in America in Spring might have seeds that was my source.

Wow Kaz, sorry to see your tree bow out like that and yes, persimmon wood is supposed to be hard but they do best in clay type soil. There are others that do fine in other soil type but all the big hardy fruiters I've seen are on clay type soil with at least 1/2 clay. Persimmons have been hanging on here in my ancient sand dune soil. My Hachiya has been breaking branches every year for last two years no matter if I thin still will break. So, could be tree under stress from not enough water or because down deep soil moisture is lacking.
Either way it sucks can't seem to make my trees happy in sandy soils even with tons of organic material added for years and years. Bye bye Hoshigaki which my wife was getting good at :'( :o

I've always gotten mine from Burntridge Nursery in Washington. https://www.burntridgenursery.com/
They have quite a few varieties and seedling rootstock.

Sweet! How are the fruits and the taste?
This will be my first time trying the fruit and I haven't picked any yet.
I accidently found them today.
I love finding fruit on trees when you don't expect too ;) 8)

I second what Jonah, said paw paw's grow in high heat with water no problem.

So I just bought a 4 ft x 16 ft hog panel and cut it into 2 ft pieces.  Made a triangle, and set it on the pot.
The plants are not doing it justice right now because I just whacked it down after blooming.  It was draping over the top. What I need to do is put pipe insulation along the top to help them from breaking from the weight.

Thanks Carolyn, very nice fairly simple trellis nice job ;) 8)

Here are some examples of how I make them with aluminum extrusion. Then there's a picture with 1 year of growth. I don't think I'll ever have to repair them.
Nice job Tim, looks like you have frame under pot also, is it bolted to uprite section? nice job must be weldor or have family or friend who is cool. Light weight and strong 8)

Mine grow up a triangular cage made of heavy wire "hog panels".
Carolyn, can you show a pic of your trellis I'm thinking about making one myself, being a retired weldor I've many idea's put haven't pulled the plug yet!
