Looks like next Thursday to Sunday we may get 4 pretty chilly nights esp for late feb/early March ...upper 40s. What are the chances of 3rd bloom a few weeks after the cool stretch?
I'm also on second bloom for my trees like many here, and for one well established NDM tree in particular, I hoping for a 3rd as the first two blooms only covered about a 3rd of the tree.
Decent possibility there will be some bloom response on stems that weren’t aged enough for the first two waves. The more nights under 60F, the more greater the response.
We’re seeing plenty of what you’re describing as well: partial blooms rather than full on some varieties. We’re even seeing vegetative growth on a number of things that took too long to initiate.
Great video, Ed! I got a 3gal last April that has grown fast and is blooming, as well. We'll see if it sets fruit and if I let it hold on to one or two--dying to try it (the ones we got at the mango tasting last year seemed to be picked way too early. Still, my girlfriend thought they tasted like Coconut Cream, which will suit me just fine.)
knlim000, you crack me up! It sounds like you're describing *my* yard 😂😂😂
Here's my M4 with my dog's long neck in the pic. Right before he watered it . . .
Perhaps someone has a grafted Piña but an issue in PR is that there is no widespread recognition of specific grafted types and any seedling mango from any type is referred to in a general name from any seedling producing fruit that looks similar. Ex, Grefe, Masa, Rosita, Zapatito, Cigarillo, Alcamphor, Juevo del Toro (which is a name also given to avocados of a certain appearance and also gets lumped together with Cipre mango), Manzana, etc. There are also variations of these names which people willI wish us Puerto Ricans didn't tell so many cuento chinos 😂. Honestly though theres a section in Ciales that has them all over the place. Im going to have to call family and maybe get some Scions sent over. I'd rather get something here where its already been confirmed. If anybody has it let me know. I'd love to grow something tjat truly comes from my roots. I had a Dominican guy try to tell me Banilejos are the same thing and I said No buddy not even close but I do love Banilejos. God bless you and Puerto Rico brother.
swear is the “real” name and so forth. I’m always in doubt about a specific type when someone says they have “the” grafted type for sale. Here it could literally be anything or something only similar. Good luck on your search 🌴.
Best Regards,
Alex
