Trying to find space to plant atemoya
« on: May 26, 2019, 09:15:35 AM »
I bought two atemoyas Lisa and geffner. Don’t even know where I’m going to plant them. Do they get big ,how much space can I get away with? I hade done 20 ft spacing in between lychee mango  avocado. Then did 15ft spacing between mango sugar apple mango lime mango. All 10ft from fence. I wonder if I can sneak them in between some of these? The wife warned me about coming in more into the open yard so that’s not an option.

This is lychee, mango, avocado with 20ft spacing.

Here is the mango, sugar apple, mango, lime, mango with 15ft spacing.

Hi Tib, I think you should be able to squeeze them in that 20Ft space, my neighbors is only about 10-12Ft , but he keeps it trimed, and if you cant find room for them, I have some room here in Tampa, lol

I keep my Gefner pruned so it is 5' high and 5' wide. Very easy to conrol. If you are willing to prune, I'd think you could fit one in easily.

Justify to wife grass produces nothing and costs money to mow and fertilize, much nicer to mow in shade than sun, string hammocks and put benches between trees, that sort of thing.

That’s awesome news. Thank you all for advice. I will keep them pruned. Will put them between the 20ft spacing.

How many fruits on average do you get from tree kept at 5' high and wide ? Thanks in advance for the answer

I usually have about 15-20 fruit. I think the tree could hold more, but that seems to be a good number where I have enough to enjoy and don't have too many ripe all at once. I hand pollinate them and spread out pollinating over about a month. That way I get one or two ripening at a time.
