M4 Leaf Issues ..

Hello Members ,

My M4 Mango Is Holding A decent amount of fruit , and many of its leaves have this burn pattern , can anyone tell me what’s going on with this tree?,
It’s the only one n my yard with this issue .

Salt burn would be my first guess. Potassium deficiency would be next.

When y’all say salt burn, do you mean excess fertilizer? I have a guava mango that looks similar on the oldest leaves. I haven’t heavily fertilized it, although I have given some sulfate of potash and some magnesium a few months ago…

I remember seeing Har say this is a deficiency and to fertilize lightly with Potassium/Mag. But I’ve also seen people say it can be from Salt OR fertilizer burn if you just fertilized maybe? too heavy on the fertilizer…? Not sure. Sorry.

My understanding is that salt can accumulate from either synthetic fertilizers or water that has too much salt. The way to remove the salt is to flood the tree with salt free water (RO water, rain water, AC runoff etc.) to wash the salts down below the root zone.

Salt maybe in some situations. I have the same issue on some varieties in the greenhouse. They get fresh ground water and only very little fertilizer once a month. Seen this also after up potting as well. Fresh potting mix should no contain a lot of salt or any fertilizer. On the other hand, I do not see this on my trees planted in the ground. In my mind, the difference is less direct sun, lower air circulation, higher heat and humidity in the greenhouse possibly causing stress. Not sure but it is my best laymen guess before hearing about salt. Thoughts?

The tips of the roots are burning.
You have options:
Water more frequently
Use more water when watering (to try to flush Chlorine salts out)
Add Gypsum (to lessen the Chlorine burn)
Use fertilizers with less Chlorine (usually it's Potassium Chloride or municipal Chlorine treated water that are causing Chloride build up, Potassium Sulfate is preferred to prevent this issue if available)

Alternatively it can also be caused by overwatering as well, but I usually suspect the above solutions when I see this symptom.
